Who's claiming to be an expert on NYC politics? I'm saying I don't see how the guy can win a re-election he's getting blasted all over the place. Frankly I don't care if NYC keeps him or votes him out I just find it amusing.

You don't have to be living in NYC, or be a so called: "NYC expert" (as you like to call it) to know how bad things are there with taxes and living costs. A lot of that data and information can be easily accessed just by doing a simple web search. And it's all available to the public. If there are any people from NYC who are living there at the moment, please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. Just no "Ad Hominem" attacks/arguments please.

 

The reason for the high cost of living in NYC is simply supply and demand.   People want to live there.  So much so that residential real estate in Manhattan is selling at record levels.

While true about parts of NYC hasn't the state of New York seen a massive loss in population as of late? I know Florida passed them recently. I know when I talk to people from New York they always mention the high cost of living and taxes as major factors for leaving.

Well, NYs growth rate over the last four years was higher than the four years preceding that, so I don't know that it was a reduction of growth rate so much as continuation of a long term trend.

 

edit: to add, low education high immigration areas tend to have higher birth rates and higher population growth. Really this sort of thing is the normal result of ongoing trends in the USA for quite a long time.
