Tashaun Gipson is a restricted FA so it will depend on the tender the Browns place on him, he was undrafted 3 years ago, he has 12 ints for 324 yards and 2 tds in 3 years. 

 

But if we cant get Devin McCourty and Gipson is tendered 2nd round or lower, we should go after him, he is better then any FS we are gonna find in the draft and is already NFL proven and only 24.

You just cant give away picks. There is plenty of money in the cap to go get a guy.

This, basically. That second-round pick would be more valuable to us than Gipson would, especially if we land a different FS in FA.

eh... Gipson better be great for a 2nd rounder.  He would need to be better than that combination of a different FS we could get in free agency AND whomever we could get in the 2nd round of the draft(the very top of the 2nd round no less).

Scouting well is all that matters.  Draft philosophy is all fluff.

Anyone who has studied recent Jaguars draft history knows how bad giving up a high second round pick is. Because the Derek Cox and Blaine Gabbert trades set us backward in 2010 and 2011 I will never support traidng a second round pick for any reason until we are a playoff team with no weaknesses on the roster.

All we're gonna do is spend it on a Cyprien anyways so why not? Basically you're drafting Gipson but would have to pay him higher.

The point is if we cant get a guy in FA, there arent that many top FS out there, Gipson is a proven player young, with a draft pick you have a learning curve, Cyp is being called a bust around here even tho he is not and this would be like drafting a guy in the same spot as Cyp but he is the playmaking FS we need.

3rd maybe but 2nd no way. With the 2nd we can use it on OL or a pressing need. I wouldn't give up a 2nd for a 4 year veteran, he isn't playing elite he is just a guy that has his ups and some downs, nothing like thomas or berry. We will find our FS another way
