Fanspeak Mock Draft
|
Ok, it's never going to turn out like this, but at least the simulator forces you to accept that some combinations aren't possible and to look around for interesting alternatives...
So this is my alternative draft, including s few names which haven't been talked about much yet... 3: R1P3 DE/OLB VIC BEASLEY CLEMSON it's hard to pick someone off-the-wall in this round, but how about this pass-rusher in a trade-down situation ? 36: R2P4 DT DANNY SHELTON WASHINGTON how about this wrecking ball if we missed out on Williams ? 67: R3P3 OT JAKE FISHER OREGON Already picked up a couple of times now, but could this be the right tackle we are looking for (and one who is used to zone blocking) 100: R4P4 RB JAVORIUS ALLEN USC If we aren't sold on Gerhart, this 220lb back could be the way to go... 131: R5P3 TE JEAN SIFRIN UMASS Regardless of who we get in free agency, Sifrin is a 6'7 monster ! 164: R6P4 OLB XZAVIER DICKSON ALABAMA Speedy pass rusher 195: R7P3 FB JALSTON FOWLER ALABAMA The best FB in the draft, so what have we got to lose with a seventh round pick ? BCC just posted a mock draft:

Quote:Hes the best pass rusher in this class along with BeasleyI like Shane Ray better
Most of the time, when I try this, the choice of a top pass rusher in the first round is an easy one, and it's down to personal preference. It could be Williams, Gregory, Ray, Fowler or A N Other...
The difficulty I find is in the second round. If you want one of the top ILBs (ie Perryman or Kendricks) you have to select them here. And if you do that, you are looking at the third round before you can take an OT, severely limiting your choices. It also means you can forget drafting one of the handful of decent TEs or Safeties. (Both seem to have a small class of desirable players this year) Of course our needs will become a lot clearer once FA starts, but these mock draft simulators show that our front office have some difficult choices to make in April. This never gets old. Just did a mock draft selecting
Rd 1: Leonard Williams - DE - USC Rd 2: Cameron Irving - C - FSU Rd 3: Tevin Coleman - RB - Indiana Rd 4: Paul Dawson - ILB - TCU Rd 5: Jesse James - TE - Penn State Rd 6: D.J. Humphries - OT - Florida Rd 7: Jermaine Whitehead - FS - Auburn

Only exception is if we spend a lot of $ on a free agent to fill the RT spot. Even then, I could see them taking a center like Erving at the top of the 2nd if they have him rated high enough. IMO, much better chance of finding a starting LB in the 3rd than an OL.

Does anyone have a good link to one of those mock draft sites where you pick for the Jaguars and they pick the other teams for you round by round?
