Joe Paterno's wins could be restored

That fact isn't helping your cause.

I don't have a cause.  I really could care less if people don't think he should get the wins back or not.  We can all have our opinions.

Joe Paterno didn't do enough.  There were too many people along the line in that school that didn't do enough.  If he doesn't get those wins back, I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.  I'm not a Penn State fan.

Edit:  If he gets them back, I'm not going to jump for joy or act like justice was served.  There wont be enough justice in this case.

Actually, he was told a first hand account by someone who witnessed it. He did next to nothing with that info. He is a disgrace.

Not only did he do next to nothing, he is part of the reason it wasn't reported to police. He helped stop that. And he is a liar. Why anyone would defend him is beyond me.

Who saw the shower incident wasn't my point. My point was Joe Paterno knew about it and chose to sit by and do nothing, and that I doubt he would garner so much support from you if he hadn't been a football coach.

Plus I don't think he cares about restoring his wins now that he is burning in hell.

Lets be clear....I do not support Joe Paterno.

Edit:  I've said time and time again that he didn't do enough.  He regretted it late in his life and knew he messed up.

I know you don't "support" Joe Paterno. I'm just telling you why he doesn't deserve to have his wins restored.

I doubt he regretted anything besides getting caught.

[BLEEP] that guy.

That's fair, and to be honest my opinion has changed a bit since reading this thread.

I may lean more towards not giving him his wins a bit now...but i still question quite a bit of how he handled it.  I think he showed legit remorse and regret when he said he should have done more.

Stop defending a man who protected a pedophile. Yes, you are defending him. Seriously, do you have any idea how this makes you look?

Not sure. Yesterday was the first I heard this was even a possibility.

Apparently Penn State agreed to commit $60M to outreach programs in exchange for the wins. Good to see that you can, in fact, put a price on the suffering of others.

I agree with giving them back the bowl eligibility and scholarships, because those were punishing coaches and staff that weren't there when the Sandusky business went down. Giving them back their wins is legitimizing a man who covered up for a pedophile. I saw a comment over on CFT that said it best: Pedo State University.

Penn State sued the NCAA to get the wins back. Instead of let it go through the courts, the NCAA agrees to restore the wins and Penn State agrees to give 60 million dollars to to activities and programs for the prevention of child sexual abuse and the treatment of sexual abuse victims.

So basically Penn State is paying 60 million bucks to restore the wins.

Disgusting.

He was well aware of the allegations going back to 1998, and he did little or nothing about it.  He allowed Sandusky to retire quietly, but never reported the incident to authorities despite the fact that Sandusky was using his charitable endeavors to basically pick his victims.  The guy was a predator.  A lot of lives could have been saved the pain of what this animal did if this icon would have simply done something like report the incident to police.

Quote:I don't know what you want me to say...I'm pretty sure the quoted response to this said it all.

You don't really know what he knew and didn't know.  None of us really do....and he said it all before he died, he should have done more.

The Freeh report pretty much lays out what Paterno knew.  He probably wasn't involved in  covering up the allegations, but he sure as heck didn't do enough by his own admission to address them.

Sorry, but I know there are some here who love Joe Pa.  His legacy is tainted by this incident.  But, in the end, what's most important to PSU and their fans?  Getting those wins back.  Sad.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Your first paragraph is kind of where I stand on this.  I've said throughout this thread he should have done more....a whole heck of a lot more.

He'll never be known for being the winningest coach.  The first thing anyone will think of is that he should have called the cops....as it should.
