Ohio State Won. Urban Meyer Lost

Quote:Hall of Famer? Oh you're talking about the title that the forum made up. Lol, petty. Interesting. So he left a wake of hate when he left Bowling Green? Hmmm. Quote:Gator fans still butt sore about Urban I see.I'm a Gator fan and I root for Meyer, for the ones who hate him now I think its pretty stupid, its not like he left and went to an SEC team or FSU. The guy brought 2 more championships to the Gators, so what he left, just like 75% of the other coaches either leave or get fired. As a life long Jaguars fan, if a coach came here and brought us a 2 superbowls heck even one superbowl and then left I would love him for life and so will most Jags fans, we will want his statue built outside of the stadium. But hey lets hate on Meyer because he left give me a break.

Quote:When someone uses the term butthurt Gator fans, there's typically no bias. Yeah...I usually don't come up with such witty names for something that I really couldn't care less about, how about you?

Quote:I'm a Gator fan and I root for Meyer, for the ones who hate him now I think its pretty stupid, its not like he left and went to an SEC team or FSU. Meyer was disingenuous at UF, in my opinion. I think everything Meyer does is in the name of recruiting (and that's obviously his job), but I'm not so sure how much he has the best players interest at heart like he says. It just all comes across as fake. The time at UF where he confronted the reporter about what Deonte Thompson said about Tebow and how it was reported....at the time, all the UF fans were saying wow, he's sticking up for the player! It just came off as a jerk thing to do to a reporter that was reporting the story 100% as it was. The part of the op's link that I found funny was when Meyer said he wouldnt let his kid go play at UF because of the players they had playing for them....the players he recruited. The top 1% of 1%.
The Clot has actually removed the story from his site. Lol. I guess he got the hits he was looking for. Even funnier he states he removed it because the servers could not handle the traffic. Lol. Yea, I am sure that is the reason.

"I made this clear to Jeremy Foley (Florida Athletic Director), if I am able to go coach, I want to coach at one place, the University of Florida. It would be a travesty, it would be ridiculous to all of a sudden come back and get the feeling back, get the health back, feel good again and then all of a sudden go throw some other colors on my shirt and go coach? I don't want to do that. I have too much love for this University and these players and for what we've built." -- Urban Meyer, after resigning at UF (the first time) and then coming back to coach a day later.
I think the above quote is funny to bring up and quite ironic. He had no way of knowing the whole tattoo scandal would happen at OSU and that job would almost immediately open up. I'm sure anyone would do the same if their dream job became a realistic option for them, but the quote kind of shows how much he talks out of his rear-end and why he comes off as disingenuous. Or makes him just about like every other coach that has ever coached before? My guess in a few years he will say something similar at Ohio State and then bolt to the NFL. Kind of what coaches do.

Never said it makes him a lousy person, just makes him look disingenuous and hard to believe when he "sincerely" speaks. Quote:Never said it makes him a lousy person, just makes him look disingenuous and hard to believe when he "sincerely" speaks. And like the poster said, ever other coach does the same thing, coaches are gonna do what gives them the edge, and if you dont you wont have a job too long

Quote:Never said it makes him a lousy person, just makes him look disingenuous and hard to believe when he "sincerely" speaks.I know you did not say that specifically, but that was kind of what the article was all about and a few others had jumpers on and agreed with also. And my real point is he is no different than any other coach for the most part or any professional athlete either. And you know sometime when dealing with your job you have to be a bit biased to your current employer. I know if I were looking to change jobs, but had nothing really lined up for sure, but my current boss asked if I were happy in my position, I am pretty sure I would say you bet so bossman! Love it here.

And my real point is he is no different than any other coach for the most part or any professional athlete either. Yeah, I'm a little on the fence. There's a difference between saying "yeah, I'm happy at UF, I love coaching here" (which I'm sure he did and was happy) vs. saying "yeah, I'm happy at UF, I love coaching here, and if I leave I'm never going to coach anywhere else because that would be an injustice." I get it, but I do think it's kind of funny that he has this perception and then he also has quotes like that. I really couldn't care less; I think him being at OSU makes CFB better, so I'm all for that, but I dislike Meyer because I'm an FSU fan and he laid a pounding on us year after year. Quote:Yeah, I'm a little on the fence. Well there you at least admitted why you dislike him!! Now that I think most can relate to actually. I have a feeling a few others also have similar reasons for their dislike. But whatever.

I understand why the fans wouldn't like him, but hating the guy? C'mon. He brought two championships to the Gators. He should be shown some love for that at least. As for your comment Bch, if you think the term butthurt is witty, then I'll just take that as a compliment. ![]()
