Talent under the radar

Last draft I lost my $&@? when we took 2 wrs in the first three picks. Caldwell figured we needed targets to throw to without having a solid line to protect whoever was in the pocket. Oh well I'm over it. I'm a HUGE advocate for OL and I am hoping we load up on them in the draft. One in particular is BJ Finney from KSU. He is slated as a center/ guard but I watched him in the bowl game at RT. Not only did he hold his own, he dominated. Anyone else notice him? Building a solid team is like real estate lingo- location etc, Olinemen, Olinemen, Olinemen

Wide receiver is one of the positions that should be picked early in the draft when you want the rookie to be a starter. Caldwell was right about needing two targets. He knew offensive linemen can wait until Round 3, but receivers cannot.

What we drafted last year were a center and a guard. Now we need a guy who has always been a right tackle since high school.

Hopefully OL is targeted in free agency. I wouldn't be opposed to rookie olinemen, but if we're banking on them going into the season, Bortles is in trouble.

I agree. A dream scenario for me would be to cut Beadles and sign Mike Iupati, sign Bryan Bulaga, and take a LT in the first round to compete with Joeckel; whoever loses the competition is the new swing tackle. We need a solid depth player at guard too. Not sure if the team has one at this point.

We still need skill players in the secondary, but beefing up the offensive line and defensive front 7 is going to be a major theme of the offseason I hope.

An ideal scenario would have us picking a Day 1 starter in the first round, not somebody who might be unemployed after training camp.

Drafting the wr's last year was smart IMO. For the most part, WR's take 2-3 years to develop. Figured he would draft them last year so by next year or the following they would be ready. This year was rare that so many panned out instantly.

Under the radar?  Isn't that Gene Smith's territory?

At some point you just have to let go of what you thought should happen and live in what is happening.
