Deflate Gate - the report is in
|
Now im no scientist, but as the temp drops dosent the air molcules condence (ie low tire pressure in cold weather). is it possible as day turned to night and cold rain came that the balls felt a little deflated? Some genius of the MB who knows Science maybe can explain.

So instead of 45-7, it should've been 31-7. Damn them patriots running up the score

Quote:I wouldn't be at all surprised if they smuggled an illegal ball or two in and switched them out while toweling them off or something. Or let some air out while "toweling" them I don't know how they can deflate a ball just by drying it. If it was that easy games could not be played in the weather they had last night. After the second half kickoff, Walt Anderson delayed the game because of a problem with getting the right kind of ball. Was that when someone found an illegal football?
Quote:Is it possible? I guess so. Is it probable? Not at all. If it wasn't possible there would be no accusations. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:If it wasn't possible there would be no accusations. Usually when teams get smashed like this in the conference championship they tend to come up with reason they sucked so bad. This sounds like one of those times.

Deflated balls have absolutely nothing to do with having a bad defense. Quote:That is a lame excuse. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Quote:Agreed. Especially when the balls are weighed and certified before the game, then locked up and kept under strict control for the duration of the game. According to ESPN this morning the balls are given back to the team equipment managers after inspection, so they have 2 hours or so to doctor them if they choose to do so. Quote:What you said plus the fact that both teams use the same balls too. They don't. ESPN covered this too. Each team provides 12 balls for inspection then each side uses their own balls on offense. This is because QBs want balls broken in the way they like to get the feel they want. The only time the other team has possession is after a turn over and then only for that long. Both the NFL official and Tim Hasslebeck said that this is a "no big deal situation", that an official who suspects an inflation problem simply pulls the ball from use. It sounds like the Indy radio guy who reported this is just a sour grapes kinda guy. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato

It sounds like the Indy radio guy who reported this is just a sour grapes kinda guy. The NFL thinks it is a big deal. What if one of New England's six touchdowns featured an illegal ball, and then it was pulled from circulation after the score? Does the Indy radio guy have a track record of making up lame excuses for the Colts losing?
Quote:The NFL thinks it is a big deal. What if one of New England's six touchdowns featured an illegal ball, and then it was pulled from circulation after the score? As I reported, the NFL guy (a former referee who worked a Super Bowl and former Supervisor of Officials) doing the interview basically said this wasn't a big deal. I can't speculate any beyond what they said, but the interview segment was pretty detailed about process, implications and potential outcome. He said that the rule book has a consequence for doctoring the ball and it's a 25k fine, so any talk about losing draft picks would violate the NFL's own policies on the infraction. It really sounds like Indy guy is making it up as he goes along and the big media just followed along initially. “An empty vessel makes the loudest sound, so they that have the least wit are the greatest babblers.”. - Plato

If it was that easy games could not be played in the weather they had last night.Pats' game attendant kept the game balls under towels to keep them dry, but they were also obscured from view. Like in the video found here: http://deadspin.com/report-patriots-unde...1680358128 It's feasible he could have let air out without people seeing. Heck, they even could have used warm air to inflate the balls so that they would be legal during the pregame inspection by the officials, and as the ball cooled, be under inflated by game time. What happens if it's determined that they did manipulate the game balls? Is a fine enough for effecting (or attempting to effect) the outcome an AFC Conference game? I don't think it would have changed how poorly the Colts played, but I'm curious what they'd do to the Patriots if it's proven.

Everyone keeps forgetting that the Pats didn't know the clots were gonna stink up the place....
