Yes they did. They beat the Colts during the regular season.

$25K is the minimum disciplinary action according to the NFL's Game Operations Manual. The minimum is what they would be fined if it was somehow an oversight and no intent to gain an advantage.

This is dumb. Please somebody tell the NFL that they are not baseball or golf. If the balls are deflated (oh no!!), I kinda put that on the league. Otherwise maybe they were framed (oh no!), and maybe Andrew Luck secretely let the air out while he was congratulating the Patriots for making him look terrible.

So beating a team in the regular season means they are going to play as bad as they did yesterday?

And yet that still doesn't mean they KNEW they were going to blow them out again. Hoped, yes, knew for sure, no.

Brady posted this to his social media accounts during week. He knew what was going to happen

Quote:What you said plus the fact that both teams use the same balls too.

If you assume each team uses their own footballs on offense, it's not as if the Colts' defense got their hands on the ball often.

Just D'Qwell Jackson got that early pick on Brady.   Besides that, the Colts' defense did nothing the whole game insofar as forcing turnovers or even getting their hands on the ball.

Did Jackson make the allegations about the deflated ball?

Edit:  Answer-not exactly.  It was the equipment guy for the Colts.

Not buying this at all.

Officials inspected the balls before the game and said they were ok, plus dont the umpire handles the balls after each play? They would have noticed the under inflation first hand.

Whether someone has a liberal, or conservative viewpoint, a authoritative figure should not lock a thread for the sole purpose to get the last word in all the while prohibiting someone else from being able to respond.

Quote:If this is true it's further proof the NFL is fixed. Teams that follow the rules are not able to compete against those that bend or completely disregard the rules.

They need to do what cycling and other sports to when they catch a team doing this; vacate the wins! Otherwise it doesn't prevent a coach or team from consistently doing this. I mean give up a Draft Pick to win a conference championship and play in a Super Bowl; I'm sure that many a GM and coaches would gladly make that trade.

"Further proof".  I'm curious what other "proof" you have that the NFL is fixed.

Yes, the refs touch the ball every play.  This is a ridiculous accusation.

While the league continues to investigate if overly deflated footballs were used by the Patriots in Sunday's AFC title game, making them easier to catch, kick and throw,

Haha.  If that's the case, then the NFL has been over-inflating the balls the whole time.

I find it pretty silly that an "investigation" is required.  How difficult is it to check the air pressure on a ball?

Deflate-gate ... Its a joke, but for the non-Pats fan, now you know that this whole hub-bub is the price the Patriots pay, and will continue to pay, for the bogus Spygate story.

If this happened to any other team in the league it would be passed over as a non-issue. But it happened to the Patriots, so of course it has to be broken down and dissected by every sports and news channel in existence.

Did it happen? I don't care.

Is it just hot air? I don't care.

The reason being is simple - every single petty minded person who wants to try to tear down the accomplishments of the Patriots will ride this to death regardless of whether its true or not. People who dislike the Patriots will continue to hate them and add this to the pile of blanks  "ammo" they sling about any time the Patriots accomplish anything. You can see it already in this thread - Several posters have already become judge, jury and executioner and declared the Pats  guilty.

11 of 12 Patriots footballs were found 2 lbs underinflated.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

i actually could care less whether the Pats deliberately under-inflated the footballs or not

I just like reading their defenders squirm and "pretend-reason" their team out of this mess
