Jags Hire Greg Olson as OC

Could see Olsen as QB coach/pass game coordinator and Gase as coordinator

Quote:People said that about Doug Marrone a few weeks ago. As the positions vanish I'm sure he'd rather be in a job than out of one. The only other team afaik who have interviewed him are Baltimore and they've got for Triestman pretty quickly.

I sure wasn't. Doug Maronne abandoned his team for whatever reason. Granted, The Bills have a terrible front office so I don't blame him but the rest of the NFL does. "Ra Ra honor! Go down with the ship" is pretty much how the rest of the NFL expects its coaches to be. With that said, I wasn't surprised at all.

Gase is a completely different story.

Can't wait to see whats next.

Plenty of teams are unsure about Gase because everything he's done has been with Manning who was already a HoFer. If his stock was so high the Ravens would have hired him over Triestman.

Quote:The fact that Ian Rapoport (who is usually on top of everything and accurate) isn't reporting it and PFT hasn't run an article leads me to believe there's more going on behind the scenes, wouldn't be shocked if the Jags brought on both Olsen and Gase as "co-coordinators".

Gase as passing game coordinator?

As of a minute ago,  Jason Cole and Alex Marvez haven't reported the Greg Olson/ Jaguars news either.  Both of them have been updating info on Twitter this afternoon.

This would give the expression "let's pound the other team" a whole new meaning.

I survived the Gus Bradley Error.

SiriusXM's Eddie Borsilli reports the "buzz" at the Senior Bowl is that Adam Gase "screwed up" getting the 49ers' job in his final interview.
Per Borsilli, Gase had the 49ers' job "locked up before the final meeting." It's unclear what Gase did to lose out on the job to Jim Tomsula. Gase was a candidate for the Ravens and Jaguars' offensive coordinator vacancies, but was passed over in both towns. The 49ers, Rams, Jets, Browns and Bears are all still in search of play-callers, but Gase can probably be ruled out in San Francisco. Jan 20 - 5:22 PM

Someone ask Alfie. He can confirm it with his "source".

Haha that would be hilarious.

I don't have a problem with Olson being a part of the team as a position coach like QB coach. I do have a problem with him being OC.

So he's a bad interviewee. Explains why he's missed out on multiple job openings this offseason.

It is odd, either La Canfora got a fantastic scoop or something else is going on.

It's fair to say,  at least for this year that the careers of Super Bowl 48 Assistant Coaches Adam Gase and Dan Quinn have gone in noticeably different directions.

He might (assuming of course) come off as a bit cocky for a guy that hasn't done much in the league, maybe he demanded too much control of personnel or something along those lines, guys that have quickly shot up the latter can lose perspective.
