Quote:Didnt your sources Tell you it wasnt the OC job Olson was hired for?

Yes but I didn't have a source per se, and also I was thinking of Ashley Olsen.

But isnt Mary Kate better looking?

No doubt in my mind that they wanted him as QB coach and settled for him as OC once everybody else turned them down.

He has been an OC in the past and did a good job with Carr last year. He isn't the sexy pick, but he is a safe pick. The offense and Blake will get better under Olson.

Quote:I got to say, I have 0 faith in this front office.  Caldwell seems to be the only one with any kind of sense but even that is waning.  So this team aka Bradley decided it was good to hire 2 losers to build an offense ranked 31st?  Just head scratching moves.

1. They Hire Marrone:  This guy was the equivalent of the captain who abandoned ship to leave his crew to drown.  He turned his back on his team, his players, even his word.  Talk about a snake who can't be trusted.

2. Looks like Olsen is the OC:  A guy with a history of failure.  I just don't get it's a good idea to hire a guy who's teams has essentially been in the toilet.  The Raiders offense was worse than the jags and that is in itself a horrible accomplishment.

I just don't get it.
Have you seen the QBs Olson has had to work with. As a friend of mine would say. "They are hot garbage."

Yet they'll spin it by saying "we were diligent with the process and hired the guy who was the best fit for our team". Puke. If they really expect the fans to believe that; they're stupider than I thought.

What you mean other people "shied away" from this oc job? That couldn't have happened; John Clayton thinks too much. Now you're going to have the same people saying Derek Carr sucked this year try to justify this hiring by saying on second thought he was kind of good. I'm already seeing it.

How do you know it is a bad hire? He hasn't even been one day on the job.

Wait, so is Olson definitely the OC? I'm behind the times.

I was like you once. Full of bright-eyed optimism and hope for the new regime, because according to health experts I've now lived over half of my life and I want to see this team win the big one before I die. But with middle-age comes new wisdom and experiences and you quickly learn that when things like this happen almost nothing good comes of it. This hire had all the pleasant feeling of a prostate exam and to try to spin it any other way is straight lying to yourself.

I was under the impression it was confirmed that Olsen was not the OC. That was 6 or so hours ago though, if there is a new report can someone please link it ?

I have a more favorable opinion of Greg Olson as a play caller than most people.   But it's fair to say that Gus Bradley's job is riding largely on how Olson does in 2015 as the Jaguars Offensive Coordinator.   The Jaguars talent and experience on that side of the ball should be improved enough to gauge Olson's job performance fairly.

Clearly he wasn't their 1st pick or the best person for the job like they say. But if you couldn't see Gus didn't know what the hell he was doing in his 1st year your fandom was shining too bright. He's not a head coach in the NFL, he's just a coordinator himself. 3 years a waste.

It's kind of amazing how he hasn't had Offenses that were in the top 5 in the league, with the All-Star cast of QBs he has had to work with. I mean, Joey Harrington, Marc Bulger, Josh Freeman and Derek Carr. Heck with that cast of QBs, he should have had at least 2 Super Bowl wins by now.

You're defending a QB coach by saying his QBs are bad? There's 2 first rounders and an early second on that list.

He left Buffalo because some idiot gave him a contract that paid him $4 million to walk away. I wouldn't call the guy a coward, but I could see how that would give pause to some fans (and front offices).
