Jags Hire Greg Olson as OC

Quote:I had that thought too, but i think it would still be a very relevant piece.  It's a moot point b/c it's not true.

I remember a little before the Greg O. hiring, Gus was quotted as saying no one had been offered the OC position at that time.  So more than likely, it was only offered to him.

I think that's the most likely scenario.

FWIW -  I watched various quarters of a few Oakland games this morning on NFL Rewind.

Olson's play calling seems pretty balanced (when not playing from behind) and he gave Carr a solid amount of intermediate targets.  I didn't see anything that could be construed as especially creative, but given Bradley's comments on offensive philosophy after the Fisch firing, I don't think that was ever a big part of the equation.

if you re read the comment i replied to it was talking about what is behind j dub's keyboard. so you are wrong. check your reading comprehension, and i never asked anyone to care about my life or how i work 40 hours a week and am 20 years old.

8th grade reading comprehension isnt going to get the job done. you might wanna take time off the message board and do a little learnin'

Listening to Caldwell talk about Olson, it sounds like Olson wasn't their first choice. With Olson, however, you have someone that's decent at developing QBs. I guess the idea here is that if he can develop Bortles, then the offense will get substantially better in spite of what appears to be a lackluster track record. We don't need an amazing OC to see a marked improvement for next year. We lost 5 games but 10 points or less, and that doesn't include when we were hanging in the game until our defense was gassed because our offense couldn't stay on the field.

Well, I strongly disagree with this hiring, but he's a Jaguar now, again...  So good luck Greg Olson and hopefully you can get this thing turned around.

Go Jaguars

On Dempsey's radio show today it was stated (don't remember if it was by Dempsey or someone he was interviewing, sorry) that Olson was in fact the only person offered the OC job and that Gase was only interviewed as the QB coach. If that is true then it explains some stuff.

If you haven't heard of Gase, Trestman, Roman, etc. then that's your problem.

Thatt was O'Halloran who said that and that was just his belief.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought I heard they were denied permission to interview some coaches.  Maybe Van Pelt with GB?

No.  More like:
