Jags Hire Greg Olson as OC
|
I like that the beginning of this thread was a cascade of Jaguar fans insisting/praying/cursing that Olson was NOT the hire, and that LaCanfora was a total hack that misreported that Olson was the OC choice. Next came the fact that Olson was hired as the QB coach, and Jags fans were slightly okay with that. Finally the realization that Olson was actually the JLC was correct as more and more news sites finally posted about it. Then an outrage of hatred for the hire. Then the optimists came in and slowly started accepting the hire in a mad debate.

Can we leave the personal insults behind for a while and get back to some semblance of topic, gents? Please, and thank you. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!

The prevailing logic by the majority of the regulars on this board is that no move should ever be criticized because the future is unknown.
"Right, let's wet the bed about X even though he hasn't played/coached a down yet." Lets vote the ghost of Hitler into office. He did some good things for Germany and learned from past mistakes. You bedwetters criticizing his election are stupid, as the ghost of Hitler hasn't even had a day in office for the United States yet. We show less advertisements to registered users. Yes, because an offensive coordinator is exactly the same thing as Hitler, right? What a bunch of drama queens we have on this board. People are certainly entitled to make knee jerk judgments about any hire or player acquisition, and people are also entitled to say that it's pointless to do so because every situation is unique and none of us have a crystal ball that can accurately predict the future. Your welcome to jump to conclusions if that's your approach. Just don't whine when others don't subscribe to your mindset. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.
Quote:Yes, because an offensive coordinator is exactly the same thing as Hitler, right? Don't pretend you don't understand hyperbole. I'm just taking the same logic to an extreme to show how it's flawed. As far as whining goes, the phone works both ways. My point is that people aren't "knee jerking" and "bed wetting" because they criticize a move. It's called having an opinion, and it's every bit as valid and logical as those who defend the organization at all costs. Quote:The prevailing logic by the majority of the regulars on this board is that no move should ever be criticized because the future is unknown. You obviously haven't read much around here in the past year. That statement is horribly inaccurate. There are folks that defend most moves by the Jags, others that defend slightly fewer and those that generally take a "wait and see" approach, but all of those groups together still don't equal a majority. The vast majority seem to complain about every signing, hiring, non-firing and several other invented bad decisions by the Jaguars. I don't really blame most of them. The product has been unacceptable. But the tone of the majority here is easily a negative one.
I'm talking about the regulars of the board. The majority of the people who criticize are either banned, run off the board, or make alias accounts. Most of the regulars who have posted for years are always "wait and see."

Quote:You obviously haven't read much around here in the past year. That statement is horribly inaccurate.Yeah you will have more complaining than usual when people are throwing down hundreds of dollars on a team that has a whopping 14 wins in the last 4 years.

Quote:So, how exactly, is [BAD WORD REMOVED] about every move more productive than taking a wait and see attitude? They are both the same. Neither are productive. How is never having an opinion until after the fact actually productive? We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Quote:If you haven't heard of Gase, Trestman, Roman, etc. then that's your problem. Trestman was a oft-criticized head coach for a big market team. Roman was a candidate for HC last year. But don't tell me Gase was a household name here in Jax before last week. Quote:They are both the same. Neither are productive. This is where you're wrong. People have an opinion. Some like it and some don't. But at the end they usually say "I'm willing to see how it plays out though" Take me for instance. I like the hire and think he's going to be good. That doesn't mean I think we are going to the SB but I like the hire. Quote:They are both the same. Neither are productive. You're right. I've seen the light. I'll start complaining more. ![]()
Quote:This is where you're wrong. What choice does anyone have other than to let it play out? I dislike the hire, but that doesn't mean that I don't think that there is a possibility that Olson gets it turned around. Even if he does, my opinion would be that it was a bad hire that worked out well. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:You're right. You should start with reading more instead. Quote:I'm talking about the regulars of the board. Long time regulars who tend to "wait and see." Hmmmm. So - like 12 people. I'd also point out that when you have the 2nd youngest roster in the league and you can look around the roster and see that 4 or 5 veteran starters are merely placeholders, then….. yeah, there's going to be a lot of "wait and see." Like it or not. I agree that the reality is always somewhere between the extremes - and have stated that I understand why so many complain about seemingly everything. I just see many reasons why the "wait and see" approach makes the most sense right now. Quote:You're right.Me too! I hate the jags, they suck, every move they make i'm against and i'll go online and shove my opinion down the throats of complete strangers until i'm miserable! Find another team? No way! Find something else to worry about? No way! Go Jags! You suck, I hate you!!! |
