Realtistic trade options
|
With all of the talk about Philadelphia considering a "king's ransom" trade to get Marcus Mariota, it seems people are forgetting about the more realistic possibilities.
Start with the Jets. They pick three spots after us, have a quarterback emergency, and recently got new executives and coaches. That makes them a candidate for Marcus Mariota if the Titans don't pick him. So we can trade with them and still get an elite player while they solve their quarterback problem. Then there are the Bears. With the #7 pick, a new general manager, and new coaches, they don't know if overpaid Jay Cutler should stay or be traded. We have enough money to take his big contract and need to find a better backup than Chad Henne in free agency. Would you want him andf a second round pick to move down four spots? Three picks later, St. Louis is on the clock. The Rams also could use a quarterback upgrade, but would they want to do that with Mariota? The Browns are #12 and obviously need a quarterback. Is that too low to trade down if they want the #3 pick? They also have #19 from the Bills, so we can ask them for that pick as well. We show less advertisements to registered users. Maybe we could trade with the 49ers since they also have a football team !?!
I've given up on trading down. We are never in a good position for that and it never happens. Its more likely Mariota or Winston falls to those teams than us actually getting something for a draft pick.

We are always in a good position to trade down.
I'd like to see us trade down, perhaps with the Bengals, in order to secure more picks!

From what we are seeing the "top" qbs in this draft by the time it comes around might not even be consensus top picks....

I think we could trade down with a team hungry for Williams, Amari, or Mariota. Not for a king's ransom but for an extra pick or two.
the most likely scenerio to trade down would be someone to come up for Cooper, to jump in front of the raiders.

Quote:Never in a good position? Top five teams trade down al lthe time. We are always in a good position to trade down. We're not really in a good position to get a bunch of value in return. We'd be set if we were first overall, but we're 3rd in a draft that has MAYBE two 1st round QBs.
Quote:the most likely scenerio to trade down would be someone to come up for Cooper, to jump in front of the raiders. The Giants? Beckham Jr. and Cooper would be sick. But with Kevin White and Devante Parker also in this draft plus after last year with Buff. trading up for Watkins. I don't see a team trading up for Cooper with White and Parker in the draft also. Not the most likely scenario IMO
Quote:We're not really in a good position to get a bunch of value in return. We'd be set if we were first overall, but we're 3rd in a draft that has MAYBE two 1st round QBs. Nonsense. The Browns were #4 last year and got this year's first round pick when the Bills traded up for Sammy Watkins. So we can get great compensation for trading out of #3.

Not the most likely scenario IMO Daniel Jeremiah's mock has the Raiders (4) picking Kevin White, Falcons (8) picking Amari Cooper, and Vikings (11) picking Devante Parker. What do you think of that? The Giants would have to move up six spots to leapfrog the Raiders. How much compensation could we expect to get from them? We show less advertisements to registered users. Yeah the Titans are happy with Metz until the minute they draft his replacement. Teams will be using their best subterfuge right up until draft day like Caldwell did last year. Winston 1, Marriota 2 and no trade for us is the way I think it plays out.

Don't forget Giants could take a flier on dgb aswel, also a stud of a wide receiver, someone will take him in the top 20 despite his dismissal.

Also, the Titans obviously need more than a quarterback and might get one in free agency. Every year somebody is drafted much later than most people expected 4 months before the draft.

Again more smoke and mirrors. Every year some players slide and some are over-drafted, but if the GM of the Titans thinks that MM is the future for them, he will draft him no matter what other holes they have. That franchise is suffering from a lack of identity and no FA QB on the market is going to change that.

That franchise is suffering from a lack of identity and no FA QB on the market is going to change that. Because Chip Kelly was Marcus Mariota's college coach. Everyone knows that. The real question is what will happen to NIck Foles if Philadelphia gives up a king's ransom to pick Kelly's favorite quarterback?
Count the Browns out. The GM might as well jump into Lake Erie and drown if he's taking another risky QB w/ the 1st round pick in back to back drafts.
Why are people saying the Giants will trade up for a WR? they got a young stud WR and Victor Cruz is back next year, if they wanted another WR just wait for one to fall to them no reason to trade up, thats what dumb teams like the Bills do.
