Realtistic trade options

Quote:Why are people saying the Giants will trade up for a WR? they got a young stud WR and Victor Cruz is back next year, if they wanted another WR just wait for one to fall to them no reason to trade up. That's what dumb teams like the Bills do.

You think the Bills were dumb to trade up for Sammy Watkins? He was one of the best young wide receivers in 2014. I only wonder why they gave up a first round pick to moe up four spots.

I only see one person saying the Giants might trade up for a wide receiver here. Maybe that person is thinking Victor Cruz will not be as good as he was before tearing up he knee.

Quote:Count the Browns out.  The GM might as well jump into Lake Erie and drown if he's taking another risky QB w/ the 1st round pick in back to back drafts.

Which first round pick? The Browns have two this year.

The owner only said they will draft a quarterback. He said nothing about trading up for the Duck.

I really like the Jags position in the draft. Either they have the opportunity to take Leonard Williams or trade back for extra picks. I don't have any idea who would want most to trade up, but my preference would be to stay in the top 10 and get an extra 2nd rounder this year as well as an extra 1st or 2nd next year. The Eagles might be willing to do this due to the Kelly-Mariotta connection. Obviously, this would not give the Jags a top 10 pick this year, but to have two seconds this year and two first rounders next year it would be worth it. The Jags could still land a very solid player in the 1st ( Scherff/Clemmings/Flowers would be my preference) and then get the best linebacker (Perryman/Dawson/Kendricks) in the 2nd in addition to the BAP with the additional 2nd rounder. Todd Gurley would be my preference if he's still there although they'd probably grab him with their first 2nd rounder and take the linebacker with the 2nd. I actually prefer this scenario to taking Leonard Williams. The starting lineup would look something like this:

Q.B. Bortles

R.B. Gurley, D. Robinson, Gerhart and Todman

O.Line: Joeckel, Scherff, Linder, Beadles, and Bowanko (add another interior lineman in free agency and with a mid round draft pick to compete and provide depth)

W.R. Robinson, Lee, Hurns, hopefully Blackmon and a mid-level veteran free agent like Washington or Royal (Cobb isn't leaving the Packers)

T.E.: Best free agent available (Clay/Cameron or Thomas), Harbour and Jensen

D.Line: Basically same as this year. Hopefully Branch will improve and Marks will get healthy. This unit played well last year. Pierre-Paul would be too risky.

L.B. Telvin Smith, Poz , Perryman and J.T. Thomas

Safety: Cyprien and best free agent (maybe Rahim Moore)

Corner: Colvin, McCray, Ball and Gratz compete

I'd be very pleased with this roster. Most importantly, the offensive line would be significantly better with better personnel and better coaching.

Jaglou, how do you think it is possible to get Sherff, Gurley, and Perryman? If the Eagles trade with us for Mariota, we still have only one first round pick and one early second round pick. All three guys will be gone by the time the Eagles pick in Round 2. In fact they are all listed as first round picks, so we may not be able to get any of them at #36. Also, it would be better to sign Bryan Bulaga in free agency and draft a backup interior lineman after picking a free safety and tight end.

No, the Jags would get the Eagles 1st and 2nd rounders this year and their 1st next year. So the Jags have a later 1st rounder and two 2nd rounders. Scherff is not likely to be available, but it is possible depending on the combine. If not, Clemmings and/or Flowers should be. Due to his injury, Gurley can easily drop to the top of the 2nd and Perryman's size could easily drop him to the end of the 2nd round.

My point is none of them will be available late in the second round, so the extra second rounder would have to be used on somebody else if we get it. There is no way to get all three players.
