Mock

1. Buccs - Jameis Winston QB

Pro Ready QB, Florida Star.

2. Titans - Leonard Williams DT

Monster, Titans need to rebuild defense

3. Jaguars - Shane Ray OLB

I feel like either the Jags or Titans will land a blockbuster trade for Mariota. But, for now Shane Ray is the pick. I think he is better than Gregory. Bigger build, better explosion off the 3 tech, and I think he can be a really effective 3 down player. I think Gregory is more of a 3rd down speed rush specialist, he's more of a Dion Jordan type prospect in my opinion.

4. Raiders - Danny Shelton DT

Del Rio always has had a stout DT

5. Redskins - Randy Gregory OLB

They could really draft any position

6. Jets - Marcus Mariota QB

Jets get lucky if this how the draft really falls

7. Bears - Landon Collins S

Bears fill a big need in the Secondary

8. Falcons - Dante Fowler OLB

With Wetherspoon leaving and their Defense being horrible, Falcons need to rebuild pass rush.

9. Giants - Brandon Scheriff OT

Protect Eli

10. Rams - Amari Cooper WR

Rams finally get a viable receiving target

It certainly will be interesting to see how Shane Ray runs at the Combine. He could blow up and become the next Dwight Freeney.

Clearly, Shane Ray has the dimensions to play the Leo in the Jags system and I could see how he might end up being the Jags pick.

Still, there is something inside me that suggests that Randy Gregory could end up being the next Clay Mathews, especially if he ends up in Washington or with the Jets.

Yet no matter how I toss the various factors around in my mind, I can't see how the Titans will not take the QB or trade with the Eagles get the Eagles top three picks in 2015, their Rd 1 pick in 2016 and a starting QB in Nick Foles.

That is too much booty to pass up just to take Leonard Williams who is not a true Pass Rush terror.

If the Titans do pass up the QB and the trade, it might be to take Shane Ray or Randy Gregory, because in their 3-4 system those players are the better fit than Williams as a 3-4 DE.

Regarding the rest of your mock Top 10, hard for me to imagine why the Raiders would not take Amari Cooper. I mean I like Danny Shelton, but dang the Raiders need a No. 1 WR really really bad.

In the Jags system, Williams will still play the 3-4 DE, but he will do it under a configuration that allows him to move around a bit more than merely holding the edge and occupying the double team.

I was really impressed with Xavier Williams - DT - Northern Iowa at the Shrine Game. He looked to me that he could man either the 3 Tech DT or the 5 Tech DE. If the Jags draft Randy Gregory, then the other Williams (Xavier) could be manning the Big DE position opposite Gregory in a Few years.

I can see him going in Rd 5, but I am more hopeful that he falls to Rd 6.

I truly believe that Jake Fisher will go in Rd 3 and that Daryl Williams will be available in Rd 4.

If some reason the Jags decide to go in another direction other than Paul Dawson in Rd 2, then I could see Martrell Spaight of Arkansas as an option at LB perhaps in Rd 5.

Question? If Cameron Erving - C - FSU were available at Pick 36 and Maxx Williams was already selected would you take Erving over Dawson?

Also here is the rub, Bruce Carter - LB - Cowboys is Paul Dawson (only faster), so why not sign Carter and free up the Rd 2 pick for either a TE (Maxx Williams or Clive Walford) or an Olineman (Erving or even Clemmings) or a RB lsay like Gurley if he falls or Telvin Coleman?

Thoughts?

Free Agents

DE - Jason Pierre Paul 14 mlMil per year

OLB - Akeem Ayers 6.5 Mil per year

TE - Jermaine Gresham 6.7 Mil per year

OT - Bryon Bulaga 7.8 Mil per year

Round 1 - Leonard Williams DL USC

Round 2 - Todd Gurley RB GEORGIA

Round 3 - Chris Hackett FS TCU

Round 4 - Jesse James TE PENN STATE

Round 5 - Byron Jones CB CONNETICUT

Round 6 - A.J. Johnson ILB TENNESSEE or best ILB

Round 7 - Eric Lefeld OT CINCINATTI or best OL

Johnson does have some legal issues regarding a rape. I would only want him if he isn't charged.

Hackett should be selected if we can't get McCourty in free agency.

Gresham was my TE selection as he can act as a security blanket for Bortles. He has some play making ability. He can block and catch, and doesn't have an injury history. One of his problems though is fumbles when he is trying to make a play.

Have you considered Martrell Spaight of Arkansas as an alternative to A.J. Johnson at the ILB position?

Might Chris Culliver - CB - 49ers be converted to FS?

He played that position at South Carolina his Jr. season.

Yes but he will be selected earlier than I would want for an ILB other than a top tier ILB in this draft. Jake Ryan is another possibility.

If we're gonna try and convert a CB to FS I'd give Colvin a shot. He's already on the roster & has experience playing Safety

I just don't see any of those guys being on the Jags next year. Maybe Hughes or Free. I think we are going to draft Pozs replacement rather than seek one out in FA. Out of that list I would be most happy with Free.

While it is true that Aaron Colvin played Safety at Oklahoma, it was Strong Safety in 2011, his Soph season.

Strong Safeties cover the TE and are thus closer to the LOS to defend the run.

Not sure that Colvin would make a better candidate than Culliver to play FS.

Not sure Colvin is a better CB than Culliver either.

In my list of Free Agents, please note Bruce Carter who is a MLB that runs sub 4.5 - 40 thus negating the need to draft Poz's replacement with LBer that run no faster than 4.65 and probably closer to 4.7.

Bruce Carter is a better MLB than Dawson, Kendricks or Perryman. He is misplaced in Dallas.

Rob Housler is a 4.55 - 40 TE that could average 40 to 45 catches as the receiver TE in Jax.

Mike Wallace is the veteran WR that has been to the Super Bowl with the Steelers and is still a deep threat - 10 TDs in 2014.

Akeem Ayers is as close to a Bruce Irwin clone (Seattle's Otto LB) as there is in this league.

bradley did say that they felt colvin had more value at cornor than at safety.

Considering, his draft stock before the injury and  we saw potential from him in the limited snaps he played coming off a major injury I would agree with him at this point. I think colvin, mccray, gratz in the nickel and ball as the vet presence has the potential to be a great cb rotation for us for a number of years.

Charlie Campbell of Walterfootball.com had a short article in the "Rumors' section about Paul Dawson.

Most websites have Paul; Dawson listed at 6'1" 230 lbs which is what TCU has him listed in their program guide.,

Now we all know that many colleges "fib" a little about some players heights and weights.

Paul Dawson was supposed to be at the Sr Bowl but declined to show up due to an injury, so Dawson did not get measured at the weigh-in.

Charlie Campbell says in his article that Dawson may actually measure in at 5'10" tall and 240 lbs which is closer to Denzel Perryman's size.

Campbell goes on to say that among NFL Scouts, the highest teams have Paul Dawson is the 2nd Rd, with the consensus being between Rds 2 to 4, with some teams saying even later than the 4th Rd.

We will have to wait until the Combine to find the true numbers on Dawson measurables.

Free Agency

- Tender and retain all RFA's and ERFA's

- Re-sign Geno Hayes, J.T. Thomas, Alan Ball and Jordan Todman. All will be affordable and have shown flashes during extensive playing time.

1. Jordan Cameron, TE - will be cheaper than Julius Thomas, and unlike Thomas, Cameron was productive despite poor QB play.

2. Brian Bulaga, ORT - instantly upgrades the O-Line.

3. Rob Sims - OG/C - played pretty well in 2014 but he's getting up there in age. Will push Bowanko and Beadles and offer good depth regardless.

4. Da'Norris Searcy, FS - after seeing Jairus Byrd get paid and not work out so far, the FO may be a bit wary when it comes to paying McCourty. Searcy is cheaper and younger than McCourty. He played great in 2014 and is hitting his prime years.

Draft

Round 1 - Leonard Williams, DT/DE - he'll make an impact as a pass rusher and run stuffer. To quote Mr. Ketchman: "You gotta get the big guys early."

Round 2 - Maxx Williams, TE - I hope he's still available at this point. He'd team up with Cameron to form one of the better TE tandems. The Colts make it work with Allen and Fleener.

Round 3 - Trey Flowers, DE/LEO - Shorter than ideal, but he has freakishly long arms and knows how to use them as a pass rusher. Can rush from a 2 or 3 point stance.

Round 4 - Ladarius Gunter, CB/S - He's got the length Bradley covets for the position. More young talent added to an already promising secondary.

Round 5 - Stephone Anthony, MLB - He was at the Senior Bowl and impressed a lot of people with his well rounded game. Learning from Poz will be an added bonus for him.

Round 6 - Dominique Brown, RB - Good burst and vision. According the cbssports, he could do well in a zone system.

Round 7 - C.J. Olaniyan, OTTO - A good pass rusher, which makes him a decent fit at OTTO.

FA:

Derek Newton RT - were not getting Bulaga, GB has more than enough to get him back. Newton is the second best RT in FA and very good in his own right.

Michael Crabtree WR - Big possession target we can get for a reasonable price

Rob Housler TE - Just like crabtree, good possession target and security blanket for blake

Bruce Carter MLB - good middle linebacker who can drop back in coverage

Jerry Hughes DE - back to back 10 sack seasons could be a big help but cheaper than JPP

Draft

Leonard Williams DT/Randy Gregory OLB - I dont think I need to explain this choice

Jake Fisher LT - backup Luke, and over take him if Luke continues to be awful

Cody Prewitt S - solid centerfielder

Daniel Hunter DE - another solid DE for depth

Xavier Willaims DT - Big guy who can line up in red bryants spot

the only thing I'm missing is replacement for the left guard position. Not sure where to go with that one.

GlockBortles,

LOVE the Free Agent selections. Somehow I think Crabtree is a Raider when it is all said and done.

I still like the idea of Mike Wallace because he truly could be the Jags No. 1 WR - Super Bowl experience

Totally get why you like Jake Fisher, but I have a feeling that once the Combine is complete that Donovan Smith, who had a great Senior Bowl playing OLT, will be the highest rated Olineman available at Pick 36. Donovan is BIG and NASTY and so Great for the Running Game the Jags are about to install. Smith and Linder on the right side of the line will be blowing holes for the Jags RBs.

Bottom line for the Jags is to sign a Free Agent ORT and then replace him several years later with a rookie, which is why I might consider going after Doug Free of the Cowboys because the Cowboys line is looked upon as the peak of the profession.

What Prewitt showed me at the Senior Bowl is that he is more of a SS and is not capable of covering the entire field sideline to sideline. One guy that I think could be a candidate for conversion is Jalen Collins - CB - LSU. At 6'2" 195 lbs and 4.4 - speed, this guy was said to be one of the few DBs that could lock down Odell Beckham Jr.

I absolutely love Xavier Williams out of Northern Iowa. I think he is the perfect rotational player behind Sen Derrick Marks at the 3 Tech DT. Totally think you are right on with the 5th Rd placement.

You think that Daniel Hunter will be available in Rd 4?

Regarding the OLG position, why not sign Orlando Franklin to man the ORT spot and then move him later to OLG where he played for Denver this past season?
