Jags Hire Greg Olson as OC

Quote:Fisch didn't lack creativity regarding individual plays. He just really stunk at preparing the offense in general and he couldn't string together a series of good play calls most of the time.

They never seemed to try to establish anything. There never seemed to be any continuity. It almost seemed like just a bunch of random plays.

I'm not sure I buy this, "fish was creative" talk.

Running bunch wr packages 90 percent of the time, then running Toby to the outside and then running shoelace up the middle, then only targeting tight ends three times per game doesn't strike me as very creative.

Did he have a few gadget plays, yes. But creative and fish isn't something I would say in the same sentence

Fish wasn't creative.

Just used them in the same sentence!

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

Offensive co's can be more creative when there is more to work with. Maturation of our WR core and added free agents will help Olson do what he intends to do with the offense.

ill be the first to say its very hard to isolate a problem on a football team that we have no actual inside information of.

ill also say that it was overly evident that fisch as an OC was atrocious.

certainly a failed experiment.

Coughlin when asked if winning will be a focus: "What the hell else is there? This is nice and dandy, but winning is what all this is about."

At least we now know that, as bad as he might have been, Fisch didn't make the worst offensive play call of the season. Wink

It seems to me in hindsight, that the Jags Offense, particularly the play of the rookies was greatly impacted by a coaching staff that was predominantly from the college ranks. The NFL is a whole together different level of technique required and it seems obvious to me that the Jags Offensive Coaching staff were over their heads much to the detriment of the rookies playing in the system.

WHAT

I dunno in Madden I dislike the Bills & Raiders playbook.... (QB & OL/Ast HC coach Bills, OC Raiders) and in reality none of them had an awesome jaw dropping offense....

and with so many problems on Offense they have a huge hill to climb... out of the three the OLine coach is probably the best sign..

Whats with Dave Caldwell always looking towards Buffalo (Mularkey, and the latest two coach hires)?

Greg Olson would have run the Horse on 2nd and 1 if we made the Super Bowl.

.... just sayin'

I think every coach in the NFL except Pete Carroll wouldve called a run on 2nd and 1.

Khan said he has followed new offensive coordinator Greg Olson’s career since he coached quarterbacks at Purdue in late 1990s.

“I love [quarterback] Blake [Bortles], and I think he’s a key building block moving forward,” Khan said. “We have to unlock his potential and we needed to have somebody who has done that before and has a great track record. I think Greg is about as good as it gets.” - Jaguars Owner...

Okay I guess that is why they went with Olson....

I really enjoy watching Blake play too and I hope Olson can fix some mistakes and help him play to his potential.

Looks like Olson coached Brees in college.

I doubt it.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Olson's defense on radio today was essentially the same defense everyone else has used: I've been placed in tough situations.

My question is, if he has been in the leauge this long, why hasn't he ever managed to find a better situation? That's the question nobody is answering.

With that being said, the job he did in Tampa with Freeman is encouraging. Blake's of a similar mold.
