There's no question that RO seems to have a dislike for JB.

I have no idea why, but it just a shame he feels that way. It's like it's personal with him.

Hopefully he can learn to forgive JB at some point, whether he makes it back on the field or not.

I don't know if he'll make it back or if he does if he'll be able to stay focused and stay clean but if he can it could get interesting.  Sometimes addicts will overcome their addiction by totally focusing on one particular thing and that could be a career.  An example, and I'm showing my age here but in the NBA, Chris Mullin had a serious alcohol issue coming out of college and nearly bounced out of the NBA.  He finally got clean and sober, re-dedicated and re-invented himself and went on to be an all-star and one of the better players in the league in his era.  If Blackmon, with all of his raw talent could do that, he could be a superstar on a team with a lot of other talent at W/R.  A mature and experienced group featuring Blackmon, A-Rob, Hurns, Lee, and who knows who else Caldwell could bring in would cause absolute nightmares for defensive coordinators.  That is the best case scenario of course.

There's a worst case scenario and that is that Blackmon comes back and gets suspended again, A-Rob turns out to be injury prone and Lee never gets the NFL system.  <sigh>  Well, at least we would have Hurns.  :|

Hurns will continue to drop open passes.

Maybe he's just responding like a jilted lover would. JB and his empty promises has hurt a lot of fans and apparently beat writers too.

Rotoworld sounds excited about the news:

Quote:Justin Blackmon | JAC

(January 30, 2015 2:11 PM EST)

Jaguars owner Shad Khan stated Friday at the Super Bowl that he is "very optimistic" about the 2015 return of suspended WR Justin Blackmon.

"Absolutely," Khan stated vehemently. "As a matter of fact, I’m very optimistic. I think he’s paid his dues. I think he’s got his life together. I think he can be a role model for people who have gone through hard times. We’re waiting for him."

Blackmon's return would be a huge boost to Jacksonville's wideout corps, which is dealing with Allen Robinson's foot fracture and Cecil Shorts' free agency. 25-year-old Blackmon is a run-after-catch machine with an ability to threaten the intermediate sections. He'd be a big upgrade on Shorts at Z receiver.

I hope Allen Robinsons foot heals and stays healthy. Sometimes the foot just keeps getting reinjured and it is never right.

If by that you mean he'll continue to catch passes, like the 51 he caught for 677 yards and 6 TDs as an undrafted free agent rookie, then yeah.

No one is denying he had impressive numbers, especially on a team as weak offensively as the Jaguars were.  Everyone agrees he has big potential.

Only an idiot however, would deny he dropped a few easy ones.  Which category do you place yourself in?

When you get into the endzone, act like you've been there before.

Players are no different then other people that you know or your children, they are going to disappoint at times.

And some of those times will be more disappointing then others.

The JB situation really hurts himself and his family more then anyone else, even beat writers, so why should he hold a grudge?

The odds are against JB making it back, staying completely clean and becoming a very productive member of the Jags for a long time, but it's not impossible.

Why shouldn't we root for JB to turn his life around, whether he makes it back on the field or not?

I think Ryan O is just trying to temper expectations. As has been chronicled before, the most successful return for a WR (or just about any player for that matter) after missing as long as Blackmon has is Plaxico Burress...and all he was was a decent end zone target nothing more.

Obviously Blackmon is much younger than Plax when their respective absences happened, and if Blackmon does come back with total commitment and effort he should be more productive than Plaxico was...but still don't expect a legit #1 WR to emerge from the ashes. If he can just become a bit of an upgrade on Shorts that will be a miraculous comeback story IMO.

When you have someone saying stupid [BLEEP] like he was a 5th WR at best talent during his rookie year you have to think either Ryan O has an agenda or he's just a [BLEEP] hack. He was saying stuff before the suspensions.

I read somewhere that it isn't likely goodell reinstates him

Before you start spitting profanities and insults, you should understand Ryan O's argument. He's saying that now, after so long out of the game, expecting Blackmon to be any more than a 4th receiver is far too optimistic. Which is a very reasonable argument.

Hurns has dropped a few.  Jimmy Smith used to drop a few in his day too.  Only an idiot would believe this makes them unique as wide receivers.
