New Starters on OFFENSE

I y'ams who I y'ams and thats all I y'ams...
Green Bay has already said they are going to try and bring their free agents back and they have the cap space to do it, so Bulaga and Cobb are pretty much off the market. Both D. Thomas and J. Thomas have said they would give a home-town discount to sign again with the Broncos, so count those guys off as well.
Like every year, we're going to see the free agent class dry up with a bunch of re-signings and franchise tags. Having said that, I do expect the Jags to pursue a RT, TE, and WR in free agency, and likely a RB in draft, so I would expect the total to be 4 new starters on offense.
This is supposedly a rb class that has numerous guys who can contribute right away. Not a elite talent heavy class, but solid and numerous. We can't afford to not take a rb in the 3rd,4th or even 5th Rd. We got to get one this year.

Is there a back up quarterback union that would sue the team if they did?Teams don't want to have to spend the time and energy that it would take to prepare a rookie to be the back up that could be better spent on game planning and preparing your inexperienced starter who is expected to actually play that week. A rookie behind an experienced guy who doesn't need the extra attention is ok. Having two guys who will need the extra attention to get prepared week to week would take away the ability for the coachind staff properly prepare either one. There is a limited amount of time available to prepare the QBs. Having to split that time between two inexperienced players would be a disservice to both QBs. Neither player would be able to get the attention they need. |
