I see him coming into the league with enormous hype, and I agree that it was too much (which by the way was not his fault, he just kept quiet and balled out, unlike RGIII). His first year he won 11 games and set numerous records and made it to the playoffs. His second year, he won 11 games, set numerous records and won a playoff game. His third year, he led the league in TDs, won 11 games and won 2 playoff games.

 

He unfairly has been criticized in comparison with players like Manning, Brady, Brees, Roethlisberger, all of whom have numerous more years in the league. Once those guys retire, Luck will be among the top, would he not? In your opinion, has this not met the hype? (Again, not being argumentative, but from a realistic standpoint, Luck is actually well ahead of schedule regardless of the hype).

If we were discussing Richard Sherman and the hype that surrounds him, I can agree with you to criticize him with great scrutiny because he brought it upon himself.

As an opponent, I don't view Luck as the challenge that Manning was or is.  Is that fair?  Perhaps not.  But that certainly has more influence than whether or not he plays on my team.  I don't envy you having him as I did Manning, either.  Perhaps respect is a better description than envy.  I wanted us to go after Manning when you let him go, but knew he probably would have never gone for that even if we were as competitive or attractive to him as Denver at the time.  I can't say the same about Luck and Bortles.  I feel our future at the position is just as bright.
