Shane Ray at 3

Would this be a reach at 3? He's probably the best pass rusher who isn't Williams.

Part of me thinks that Fowler is going to end up being the best pass rusher of the class when we look back. I would not complain if we end up going Ray at 3, but I can almost hear Kiper already saying that he went too early despite being considered a top 8 prospect by most experts.

We'll tell you for sure in 4 years or so. But I wouldn't have a problem with it if Caldwell says "We think he's the best pass rusher in the draft."

Behind Williams I could see any of the top d-linemen excel or bust. Pass rusher and QB are HARD to predict.

Meh, I was very briefly on the Ray > Gregory train just from watching their games live on TV, but even just a quick second look at Ray showed a ton of flaws. He is the biggest one trick pony of this class. Very good first step, but not much length, not good hands, didn't see any counter rush moves, no second gear. Pass. Would much rather have Gregory. Gimme Fowler, Dupree, and even Beasley over Ray too, and possibly more once I dig into Harold, Orchard, and some of those other guys.

Agree 100% with the poster above. I think beasley has a chance to go ahead of him, and I'm frankly not on board with either. I think Gregory is definately a project but has the tools you want. He's the only DL (other than Williams) i would take in the first 10 picks, and thats not a sure thing either.

Gimme Dupree in round 2. Pure LEO. He's the one trick pony that presents the best value.

God I hope we get williams

No to Ray at 3. Over-hyped in my opinion.

I like Ray's tenacity and will for the game. Not sure his size is enough though. Small kid with a lot of heart. He could be a Gus pick.

I would love to get Dante Fowler, but he could be a reach at #3. According to NFL.com, Shane Ray has a higher draft grade. Not saying I want Ray. I just think because of the grades, #3 looks too high for Fowler.

Yeah, but think of a couple things. They graded Jermaine Gresham higher than Rob Gronkowski. Dezmon Briscoe higher than Eric Decker. Toby Gerhart higher than LeGarrette Blount. And that is just some mistakes from the 2010 draft class alone. Oh, and one huge swing and a miss. If you followed their thoughts, Kam Chancellor isn't that good.

This is the first time I looked at player draft grades, so I can't thnk about any of those mistakes.  After linebackers and defensive linemen work out at the combine, we will have a more accurate picture of Shane Ray and Dante Fowler.

Its just important to remember one thing: every draft grade and/or mock draft player ranking you find on the internet is 100% true and correct. All of them. But some more than others. But not really because they are all right.

I don't know that Fowler will be the best pass rusher, but I feel he can contribute earlier than Gregory or Ray. I'm starting to look to Fowler as an option at 3. Need to watch more though.

How is he overhyped? He has been an ultraproductive player at Missouri. And is an elite athlete.

I like Fowler a lot. I think while he does not have the same ceiling as those guys, has a much higher floor. He is one of the safest players in the draft. I could see him having a career similar to Cam Jordan or Ryan Kerrigan.

I don't think he will ever have a 16 to 20 sack season. But he will get his. Would you take a guy that averages 8-12 sacks a year over the next eight seasons with the third pick? I would.

After the Gabbert debacle, I think we should place a self imposed ban on selecting Missouri players until he is officially out of the NFL

Remember he could not beat out Michael Sam. One year wonder at Missouri.

I prefer Fowler over any DE in this class.
