How we become an Unstoppable Offensive Juggernaut
|
Quote:I'm from Wisconsin and I can tell you that neither Cobb or Bulaga will make it to FA. Packers have $25M in cap space and they will either cut or restructure the contract of Julius Peppers, so that is more than enough for them to keep both players. Well, if you're from WI then you're obviously privy to their internal discussions. ![]() We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
@OP
How do the 4 free agents you identified add up to under 18 million? We would probably need close to 28 million to land all 4.
Quote:Well, if you're from WI then you're obviously privy to their internal discussions. It's in all the newspapers and on the local TV, so yes - probably know a little bit more about the Packers than the average fan in Jacksonville...
Quote:How do the 4 free agents you identified add up to under 18 million? It was all about the cap hit. I believe I had Bulaga at 7 million a year, Wisniewski at 5 million a year, Maclin at 11 million a year, and Thomas for 9 million a year or something to these effects. Cap hit was 17.5 million for the 1st year, obviously more in each preceding year. Quote:If Randall Cobb lands on the market, the Jags are on him like "White on Rice!" Don't you mean like "stickum on Rice"?

Quote:Williams if he's there at 3. If not that means either Winston or Mariota are still on the board and I want multiple picks for them. We could trade down to 6 and probably still get Fowler there. Is it feasible, as a Draft Day tactic, to simply draft the 2nd best qb an promote a trade in that way? Or simply, in this case, provide Blake just about the best competition you can in Mariota? Be honest, if Williams aint there and there were no trade offers, I would love for the team to draft BAP aka Marcus Mariota
You Gotta Be Able To Run Da' Rock~
if green bay foolishly allows bulaga to hit free agency I would offer him better than the biggest contract for a right tackle which now is 7 mill a year. I would pad that offer to make him interested coming here and give him 8. we have loose money on the roster that we can afford to do this by cutting some players, even though that would not be necessary. I am not a fan of Julian Thomas, and I don't understand wanting to sign a high dollar tight end, then drafting maxx in the second unless we are going to a 2 tight end offense, which I have not read about. if we are going with a 2 tight end offense then I can understand this, but still not a Thomas fan.
Quote:How we become an offensive juggernaut:How we become an offensive juggernaut: -O line improves dramatically -Blake throws 10 more TDs and 5 fewer INTs than last season - Lee has a breakout season -J Blackmon comes back to the team but never starts another game due to poor performance. Goes to Oakland next year...
I y'ams who I y'ams and thats all I y'ams...
Quote:How we become an offensive juggernaut: I'm not sure how Blackmon with poor performance helps us become a juggernaut, but nice to see you supporting our players. Quote:I'm not sure how Blackmon with poor performance helps us become a juggernaut, but nice to see you supporting our players. And yours fits the stupid fan mode... #1. supporting a 'player' who has been repeatedly busted for drug/alcohol use; so much so that he has all but thrown away a multimillion dollar career. #2. expecting that player to come back and still perform at a high level after having been 'out of it' for an extended period of time. #3. ignoring the fact that the Jaguars have officially 'moved on' from him as far as having any expectation of his being any good as a player. I can understand a 'fan' like you making a statement like this to me though... I suppose that when someone has their head stuck firmly up in their 'south side' like you apparently do, it's hard to be objective; nevertheless, I'm sure you enjoy the 'view'. Cheers!
I y'ams who I y'ams and thats all I y'ams...
I apologize for calling you a stupid fan... that was uncalled for. Just because you have an apparent 'man crush' on Blackmon doesn't justify me questioning your intelligence. But for the record lets be clear about something; no reasonable person would expect Blackmon to come back and be the kind of impact player he had been drafted to be at this point. It would be awesome if he did... but the probability is not in favor of it. That's why more than one sports writer is puzzled by jags fans who are enthralled by him.
He did pretty good during the very short time he played for us; but, he would have to play at a high level like that for a long time before he would deserve to even be used in the same sentence with Fred Taylor or Jimmy Smith. Can he come back? Yes; we hope he will get away from and stay away from the things that got him in trouble in the first place. Will he be an impact player? It's possible... but not probable at this point. That's why Dave drafted the receivers he did; the team has moved on and isn't counting on him. So should the rest of the Jaguars fans. The odes for his life is on him; not the team, not the fans.

I apologise also as I was brash with my original statement. However I do not expect him to come back at the same level, I expect him to come back at a good level, even if not why would be better off by trading him? Do you not expect him to come back at a higher level than doss or sanders? Because if he does he makes the team better by depth. I have a good feeling an instincts that he could come back good! It may be blind ignorance and faith but only time will tell. I am definitely optimistic for his return, think of him like a draft pick, there's no guarantee he will be good but all you can base your theory on is previous experience. I do feel he has turned a corner personally, I hope at least.
Quote:Yes, you read right. I believe that we can become an unstoppable offensive force, and all it will take is a 17.5 million cap hit to sign 4 players as well as only using 2 of our 7 draft picks on offensive players. Basically, with 44.5 million in cap space remaining and 5 picks we could devote to defense, we could still have the leagues best offense. Actually, with the one draft pick I'm being overly greedy, so it could be 6 draft picks. To make sure this all worked out, I looked into what players we were connected with, their projected contract predictions, and then used the manage the cap tool on fanspeak to give those contracts to lower tier guys who would accept it no matter what in order to see how the money played out, thus giving me the figures above.I like it. Especially the pairing of Julius Thomas and Maxx Williams at TE. If we got Blackmon back AND got Maclin, our receiving group would be awesome. Blackmon, Maclin, Robinson, Lee, Thomas, Williams and Harbor....whoa! For running downs, we might need to bring in an extra OT though, cause none of those would be the blocking TE Lewis is, but I won't miss him. I might replace Duke Johnson with Jay Ajayi in the 3rd if he was still there though. Ajayi, Gerhart, Robinson rotating and keeping fresh legs in the game, much like Detroit with Bush, Bell and Riddick. Bulaga and Wisniewski would be awesome additions to the line and help in pass protection and run blocking. Bortles would have no excuse if he were not twice as good this year. Why is not probable he can be productive when he comes back? He was pretty darn productive when he was a raging alcoholic...just sayin'
My only problem is 2 of your guys are injury prone in maclin and thomas.
as far the poster who said draft Mariota sorry but thats foolish. Thats like drafting Aaron rodgers in Fantasy football and following it up with Luck in the 2nd round.
Offensive juggernaut....
WR1 Dez Bryant WR2 Robinson WR3 Randall Cobb TE Julius Thomas QB Bortles RB Demarco Murray FB/HB/TE Charles Clay LT Joeckel LG Iupati C Bowanko (gotta keep it real) RG Linder RT Bulaga ...Khan is gonna have to sell his boat for this one.

Quote:Why is not probable he can be productive when he comes back? He was pretty darn productive when he was a raging alcoholic...just sayin'I (and a multitude of others) view the chances of Justin Blackmon coming back at the same level of performance we had witnessed during his short playing history in the NFL as being improbable. Not impossible, but improbable... not likely to happen. The reasons behind this are: 1. He is viewed as unreliable! We don't know that if the day after he is allowed back on the roster (if he manages to make the roster...) that he won't be busted on a urinalysis test, or that he won't be stopped for a DUI. He is a high risk player on a team who doesn't need any more risky players. 2. He has not been allowed to be involved in any team activities for a year. We don't even know if he has done anything to keep in 'football' shape. The team has changed in the time he's been banned; new coaches, players, play book. It is simply unreasonable to expect him to come back from what he's been through ( and make no mistake... for an alcohol addict, withdrawal is physically and mentally brutal) and excel at a pro level right away. It will take time, if he can do it at all, to get back to where he was, much less get better. It's not impossible for Justin Blackmon to climb this mountain... but, it's going to be a long, steep mountain. Few could over come these odds; that's why I and others say it's not probable that he will be able to live up to the expectation for which he was drafted to come here. I hope he beats the odds and comes back at a high level of performance... I'm just not holding my breath expecting it to happen.
I y'ams who I y'ams and thats all I y'ams...
Quote:This scenerio, if it comes to fruition, would be exciting to see. I agree with your position groups to be addressed in free agency. The most likely individual selection would be Wisniewski, due to the Greg Olsen connection. Bowanko had a good rookie year, but he's not the caliber player of Wisniewski. Besides that, both these guys are versatile and can be moved to guard. One thing we have learned is that you never have too much depth on the offensive line. For some reason this was one of the most kindest and polite posts I've ever seen. It's almost weird to see considering people like to go "YUCK DAT SO BAD YOOOOO STOOOPID FER PICKIN DAT HAHAHAHA" |
