Wow. Where I grew up seventh grade was the earliest kids could play football.

When I read that, I thought there was no way that was true. Then I looked on Google News and saw other sites writing about it too. Recruiting has gotten far too ridiculous.

My guess is that the kids listed are either kids that have parents with too much money or kids that play on traveling teams and have overzealous coaches. Even so, Rivals has no business publishing these types of profiles for 11 year olds.

you will notice that not many of the kids in the little league world series actually make it.  it's the same idea.  it's too early to tell what kind of true talent they have.

 

with kids that age its more of a battle of who hits puberty first.

I guess I shouldn't have been surprised at the level of seriousness some parents took the sport when coaching my 5-6 son's year old team 2 years ago.

It's crazy how kids try to pimp their kids out now a days.  Youtube channels, website listings, travel way too often for a kid...it's just crazy the stuff they do now.

It would be better to do a break down of the amount of 3/4/5 star recruits that ended up being in the NFL by percentage.

 

I found this.  It breaks down only 5 star recruits.  I'm willing to bet the numbers dip a bit with the other ratings.

Here's a break down showing the 4/5 star recruits made up 26 of the top 50 ranked NFL draft players and 24 were 3 star recruits or lower.  The thing is, there are many many many more 3 star recruits than 4 and 5 star, so that makes the percentages out of whack.
