Quote:Don't be mean.Yeah, I knew it when I posted it. I've been trying to be a good member to this site, but that was just ugly. I'll fix it.
There is nothing wrong with taking Shane Ray with the 1st pick.
I think Ty Sambrailo could be very good but he needs some coaching and more strength. I would not be upset if the Jags took Derron Smith in Rd 3. I could see how some people might like Zack Hodges in Rd 4. Wes Saxon could turn into a pretty good H-Back type TE. And anybody taken in Rd 6 or 7 is going to be potluck.
Well, the number one thing I was thinking is that our top need in TE, goes to a developmental guy that isn't even on too many boards because of, "His lack of toughness and inability to even try to block." Plus, I'm just curious on his Dezmin Lewis pick specifically. I mean when we have Lee, Hurns, Robinson and probably Blackmon and all that even before FA where we are targeting some WR, the only type of WR we should spend a draft pick on his somebody that could improve the return game. Sambrailo has a decent chance of being available in the 4th round, so 2nd seems like a reach.
It is always nice if a person includes what site they are using as the basis of their mock draft. I can tell that this one came from CBSSports/NFLDraftScout and I see where they have Sambrailo higher for example. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
I am very optimistic that between the Free Agent that the Jags sign and Brennan Williams, that the Jags ORT issue is addressed.
I actually think the Jags may sign more than one TE in Free Agency. The wildcard is this David Ausberry of the Raiders. He was a WR at USC but he could be that hybrid that Olson develops being a cross between Big WR and TE. Heaven knows we need more Redzone Targets. Quote:Could you give just a little blurb on why you like some of these guys?Sambrailo i think could see a rise in the coming months and think he'll be a really good RT. Smith was misused as an in the box safety this year and was much more effective in the centerfielder type of role last year. Hodges I believe can be a solid Otto once he adjusts to the speed of the game. Saxton is a move TE that can create mismatches with his athleticism Lewis is a 6'3 wr that can make tough catches and can be used in the redzone right away. Blackmons playing status is in limbo. Shorts isn't under contract past march that leaves us with 4 WRs returning from last year. Crockett has good vision, quickness and speed. And i think he can be a good RB and one of the better ones from this draft. I actually didn't use any draft site. I watched some of these guys games and guessed what round they'll wind up picked in. If the draft was today I'd guess Sambrailo is a 3rd round pick but as mentioned before i think he'll rise a bit before it's all said and done. I also didn't take FA or potential Blackmon return into account when making this mock.
There are rumors that both Seattle and Green Bay are interested in Ty Sambrailo.
Personally, I think he is a late Rd 2 to mid Rd 3 selection. He is light on his feet, but he is very weak. Nate Orchard took him to school in their bowl game. At the Senior Bowl, Sambrailo let the inside move to a number of the DE prospects, which is the direct line to the QB sack. If he is coached up correctly and can get a whole lot stronger, he will be a very good ZBS ORT.
Quote:Sambrailo i think could see a rise in the coming months and think he'll be a really good RT.Thank you. To me, what adds value to a person's mock draft is seeing why they went the route they did, especially when a number of the guys are kind of unknowns for most. If I can have Fowler, Jake Fisher, and Xavier Williams I'll be extremely happy.
Well, Walter Football produced their updated mock, so I am going to do my mock based on the players that are available at each of our picks.
Rd 1: DE/DT Leonard Williams(USC)- I really, really, really wanted to go with Fowler, but at the end of the day you can't pass on Williams. Williams is already considered the number 1 prospect overall and some reports say he hasn't figured out how to fully utilize his size yet, meaning he should only get better. YES. Rd 2: MLB Benardrick McKinney(Miss. St)- IMO, he is the best MLB in the draft. I was genuinely surprised to see him still available in this mock and getting the best player at a position of need was all too obvious, especially after Maxx Williams was taken. Rd. 3: FS Derron Smith(Fresno St.)- My favorite FS in the draft. Very good ball skills, good tackler, checks almost every box. Would allow Cyp to play where he will be more productive, near the line rather than far off the line to prevent the big play due to a lacking FS. Rd. 4: TE Clive Walford(Miami)- IMO, he is the 2nd best TE and not as far behind Maxx as some think. Getting him in the 4th is a no-brainer. Rd. 5: OT Daryl Williams(Oklahoma)- Best OT remaining at this point in the draft. Has the potential to be a quality starter at RT, but his effort leaves something to be desired. As a 5th round pick, may be worth a chance. Rd. 6: RB David Cobb(Minnesota)- Walter may have him going in the 5th, but he only does the first 4 rounds. Cobb would be the best RB left at this point and could be a nice 1-2 punch with Robinson. Rd. 7: OG/C Max Garcia(Florida)- Versatile enough to play all interior positions. Could backup Beadles, Bowanko and Linder and is good enough to provide solid competition and maybe beat out Beadles or Bowanko.
The FS position is a very interesting position as it relates to the Jags.
I very much will be paying attention to the 40 times and short shuttle times for the Safeties. I am thinking that if the Jags are going to draft one then it will either be in Rd 3 or Rd 4.
Quote:The FS position is a very interesting position as it relates to the Jags.Hopefully, we can somehow get McCourty and be able to ignore the position all together and focus elsewhere. Otherwise, the 3rd-4th round is probably best guess as that is generally when most FS are projected to start going. Some decent options: Holliman, Hackett, Smith, Drummond, Rowe, Eskridge. It will be interesting to see if any one of them can separate from the group at the combine, or dramatically increase their stock. We show less advertisements to registered users. I still believe that Chris Culliver can be converted to FS, a position he played at South Carolina.
I think there is a higher likelihood of the Jags signing Chris Culliver and converting him to a FS, all with positive results than of the team signing McCourty. McCourty started out as a CB, so why not try to make the conversion with Culliver? Culliver will get paid whether he is a CB or a FS. The Jags could use help at both positions.
In the 2016 Draft - the name to remember - Jalen Ramsey - FS - FSU in Rd 1.
I read a Mayock blurb on Derron Smith earlier. He said his only concern with him is his size. But smith is roughly the ssme size as Earl Thomas & Devin McCourty. So i don't really view it as a problem.

Had fun with the Fanspeak draft simulator for 2015.
http://fanspeak.com/ontheclock/ Interesting picks, but that would mean we'd probably have picked up a pass rusher, linebacker, and possibly even safety in free agency. Marpet, Diggs (coached by McCardell) and Marlowe are some really intriguing prospects. <div style="font-size:26px;text-align:left;">3: R1P3 <div>DT LEONARD WILLIAMS USC </div> </div> <div style="font-size:26px;text-align:left;">36: R2P4 <div>TE DEVIN FUNCHESS MICHIGAN </div> </div> <div style="font-size:26px;text-align:left;">67: R3P3 <div>RB DUKE JOHNSON MIAMI (FL) </div> </div> <div style="font-size:26px;text-align:left;">100: R4P4 <div>G ALI MARPET HOBART </div> </div> <div style="font-size:26px;text-align:left;">131: R5P3 <div>OT DARYL WILLIAMS OKLAHOMA </div> </div> <div style="font-size:26px;text-align:left;">164: R6P4 <div>WR STEFON DIGGS MARYLAND </div> </div> <div style="font-size:26px;text-align:left;">195: R7P3 <div>S DEAN MARLOWE JAMES MADISON </div> </div>

I went to Maryland and watched every game. He has some serious skills but we had an awful QB who couldn't hit him when he was wide open. Diggs was recruited by Urban Meyer and Florida. Loads of talent.
What no Cornerback? I hope the Jaguars are able to draft DT Leo Williams but I have a feeling he'll be gone before #3.
(His superhype will probably begin after Sunday). Quote:Which "big board" did you use? I used their big board, Williams wasn't available.. And Winston lasted til round 2, where the tacks got him. (They get Williams and Winston) Here's what I got. 3: R1P3 DE DANTE FOWLER JR.
