Gregory, Ray, Fowler?

I've been on record saying that I don't think Williams fits into that category so your looking at a really good interior defensive lineman, not an elite pass rusher. You're ignoring the impact a force like Williams would have on the pass rushers. Williams may be the peerless non-QB candidate in this draft. He's on another level as prospects go.

Quote:So the #1 player on most people's board with drop in the top 10? Highly doubt that. Williams won't make it out the top 3. Agree. Our best chance is that QBs go 1 and 2. If Williams isn't there, I believe we trade out if we can.

Quote:I think it's Mariota.... Just don't know which team. Maybe Jets.... Maybe Rams.I hope that happens. I wasn't big on Williams when I first saw him a while ago but I've changed my mind on him now. He can play 3 tech 5 tech and all along the defensive line. Quote:I hope that happens. He makes the players around him better. You can't say that about Fowler or Gregory or Ray. Pass rushers are so hard to predict at the next level. However someone like Williams is good at so many things he translates well. There's a reason he's the #1 player on a ton of boards. If someone is down on Williams, I'm not sure there is any evidence to support that notion. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today! Every year it seems more and more folks forget that it's the big athletic guys like Williams who go first along with the franchise QB candidates. Last year it was Clowney at this time in the process, who people were saying was going to go after a QB who was one pick from being a second rounder. Like Clowney, Williams has always been at the top of scouts boards, and will remain there. Media love stories, and fans run with them. Media boards and mocks tend to revert back to the original, pre-combine form as it gets closer to the draft. They toss out the stories and go back to scout and GM scoops if they can get a hint of them.

This reminds me of the 2010 draft. Brandon Graham, Derrick Morgan, and JPP were all graded similarly and all had their knocks. Fast forward to today and you can say only one has lived up to their draft status. Bradwell, do your homework on Gregory, Ray, Beasley, and Fowler.

Williams will be a top 5 pick.

... What impact on the other pass rushers? The reason most 3 tech don't have an impact is because they play inside with the most trash around them. If he s not drawing double teams then there is no impact. And if he's such a dominant force, why so few takes behind the line if scrimmage? His sack production is supposed to increase at the next level? Suhs production didn't increase. You don't take a DT that high.

So not only are you making the cardinal sin of evaluation- going by stats- you're using that philosophy on a position whose value is clearly not on the stat sheet.

2015 NFL Draft - Analyzing Targets www.jungle.jaguars.com/index.php?/topic/7892-2015-nfl-draft-analyzing-targets/
I'm using historical trends to make a logical extrapolation about a NON PREMIUM POSITION.
We just went through this a few years ago with Tyson. A great 5 technique strongside end with better than expected production that had the ability to play 3 technique. More sacks, more tfls, better 40 time better, similar if not better agility skills and elite use of hands rushing the passer. By he played at cal not USC so no one was all over him, but in my view a similar prospect. Leonard Williams will not be a pick guys up and throw them life changing force in the NFL and u don't build a defense around very I'd interior lineman. To pick him at three he better be Hercules and I don't see it I haven't seen it and I don't going to see it. Can I be wrong? Yeah. But so can you. We show less advertisements to registered users. Fowler had a good but not great combine imo. The question I'm asking is do you guys really think he is worth the #3 pick???
He is obviously versatile has decent size and is talented but does he stand out in anyway?? At #3...I just don't know
At the end of the day, free agency will give us a better perspective as to where they may attack. I remember Caldwell saying they don't need a starter which means a rotational guy i.e Williams to me. With how deep we seem at Otto in branch, Davis, Clemons, Smith I could see that addressed later on but that's just pending on how long Clemons plans to play for which is a discussion for the coaches
