2015 Mock Drafts
|
I think the consensus is that if Leonard Williams is available at Pick 3, then he will be the pick, otherwise the Jags will select Dante Fowler.
I believe that the only way the Jags trade down from Pick 3 is they are blown away by some trade offer but if such an offer was forthcoming the Titans most likely would accept it and trade Pick 2. I believe that the Jags will partially show their hand on the 1st day of Free Agency. No doubt in my mind that the Jags will make an aggressive effort to sign Julius Thomas since it appears that the Broncos will not make any attempt to re-sign him before the start of Free Agency. I think that the No. 1 target for David Caldwell on March 10th just might be Randal Cobb, assuming that he is available. The telling issue is whether the Jags will make any effort to sign Jerry Hughes - DE Leo - Bills assuming he is available. If the Jags sign Jerry Hughes in Free Agency, then that sets them up to either take Leonard Williams at Pick 3, take Dante Fowler and move him to Otto LB, or trade down. The trade down offer must already be in their pocket based upon the availability of Mariota with the Eagles or Browns being the principal players in the trade or from Atlanta seeking to get Dante Fowler. I think there is just a small chance a trade down scenario comes to pass, but it must remain on the table to play out Dave's hand. I do not expect that both Randal Cobb and Brian Bulaga will both hit the Free Agent market. There seems to be a greater likelihood that Bulaga is re-signed to a team friendly deal and Cobb is allowed to test the market. If both players hit the market, then neither will be back with the Packers and the Packers know this. I think the Jags would be very aggressive in pursuing both, but it seems highly unlikely that the Jags would be able to sign both, not because of the money aspect, but because other teams will also be making some outrageous offers to these two players. I think Joe Barksdale would be a good alternative to Bulaga, but he most likely will not be a First Day signing. He could be a 3rd or 4th day signing. I think that the Jags will definitely look at an ORT in RD 2, given how the LBs and RBs performed at the Combine. Both Cedric Ogbuehi and Jeff Fisher offer value at Pick 36, but Ogbuehi may have the higher ceiling. If either Melvin Gordon or Todd Gurley were to fall to Pick 36, then the Jags would most likely take them. I believe that Maxx Williams is less of an option at Pick 36, assuming the Jags sign Julius Thomas or Jordan Cameron at TE. I think the Jags really like David Johnson - RB - Northern Iowa and if he were to escape out of Rd 2, then he could very well be the RB that the Jags select with Pick 3. Jay Ajayi of Boise State is another option at Pick 67 (Rd 3). The CB market is going to get outrageously expensive at the start of Free Agency and so any thought of converting Chris Culliver to a FS is probably just a pipedream given what he will get as a CB. Accordingly, the two candidates that I think the Jags may consider are DaNorris Searcy of the Bills and Ron Parker of the Chiefs. Of these two, Searcy is well known by Marrone, but Parker may have the higher ceiling as a Centerfielder. Neither are first day signing candidates. Might the Jags look at another DE-Leo other than Jerry Hughes? They might look at Akeem Ayers to play the Otto LB and stick him at Leo in the rotation. Jabaal Sheard has shown that he is better at DE than at LB, but he might be considered by the Jags. I think Bruce Carter will be pursued by a number of teams and may not be targeted by the Jags if they target Ayers to man the Otto LB as a starter. I would not be surprised if Greg Olson convinces Dave Caldwell to sign David Ausberry as a reserve TE on a veteran minimum contract because of his upside. These are just some of my thoughts as we come out of the Combine and head into Free Agency. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
I think everyone is underestimating the possibility of danny shelton being a jaguar. if we get Jerry Hughes and leonard isnt there hes coming to us in my opinion.

Plus that says "best player at Senior Bowl practices".... not college football, not at the combine. Senior Bowl practice, where a lot of the top players, MOST of the top players don't participate.
Quote:Option #2 please. I also had the Browns trading up with us in one mock I was trying to do. I like that scenario better than trading with Philly I think, even if the Philly trade did garner a 1st round pick next year also. We show less advertisements to registered users. This draft follows a Free Agency haul of: -TE Julius Thomas (Lewis is cut) -OT Orlando Franklin (starter at RT) -WR Jeremy Maclin (Cobb signs elsewhere for too much $$$) *Also, Dwayne Gratz moves to FS to fill that void with more talent when the Pats tag Devin McCourty. So we fill needs at LEO, star/stud RB, move TE, right OT, and #1 WR. Not bad.
Starters by the midpoint of 2015 could be:
LT Joeckel LG Beadles C Bowanko RG Linder RT Franklin/Bulaga WR Robinson Slot WR Lee WR Maclin TE Thomas RB Gurley QB Bortles DE Bryant DT Marks/Hood DT Miller DE Clemmons/Fowler Jr LB Hayes/Fowler JR MLB Posluszny LB Smith CB McCray/Colvin FS Gratz SS Cyprien CB Ball/Colvin I like the potential of the skill positions on offense here. LB would still leave something to be desired, depending on the formation.

Daniel Jeremiah is projecting Marcus Mariota to the Rams at Pick 10?
The Titans are going to draft Mariota at Pick 2. Nobody could be that stupid as to pass up on Mariota for Mettenberger. I get that Mariota needs some work, but how is Mariota that much different than Russell Wilson? They both do the same thing. If the problem is Whisenhunt, then they need to fire the coach because Mariota is a future Pro Bowl QB.
Quote:Daniel Jeremiah is projecting Marcus Mariota to the Rams at Pick 10?If the Jags didn't take Bortles last year, and picked first this year, I wonder which QB they would chose. Winston or Mariota? Would be interesting....
Interestingly, neither Peter Schrager of Fox Sports nor Pat Kirwan of CBS Sports have Todd Gurley being selected in Rd 1 in their most recent mock drafts.
Quote:Interestingly, neither Peter Schrager of Fox Sports nor Pat Kirwan of CBS Sports have Todd Gurley being selected in Rd 1 in their most recent mock drafts. I don't see how he can be.... He hasn't allowed anyone to touch his knee, he's a RB, and there's a lot of other decent RBs in the draft...

They'd choose Winston.
And I don't really get why Dante Fowler is the consensus pick for us now. Beasley is better. "A man with no sauce is lost.
<p style="text-align:center;">But that same man can get lost in the sauce."
Put me down as one who HOPES that Todd Gurley falls to the Jags at Pick 36 and that the Jags select him with that pick.
Quote:Put me down as one who HOPES that Todd Gurley falls to the Jags at Pick 36 and that the Jags select him with that pick. I would like to see who else is available at 36 first. I still think it's a high risk high reward situation with him.... I would love a little more of a safe pick at 36.
