Quote:I think you missed what he said. He said innocence is never proven, just assumed when there is no proof of guilt.
Quote:I talked to the condo remodeler about this. Well you certainly found an authority on the subject.
I am sure he ends up with the Clots. They desperately need a RB and he would seem to fit in with their poor character environment they are developing.
Quote:I believe in spankings but what Peterson did wasn't a spanking it was straight up abuse, 7 day old pictures show deep cuts on the child. Yeah, no, i definitely respect that. I should've looked more into the incedent before commenting. I can agree w/u there

This team hasn't had a winning record since 2007. It has averaged less than 5 victories a season over that period. It has repeatedly missed in the draft. It has a young quarterback who needs a lot of help. In his first seven seasons, Adrian Peterson rushed for over 10,000 yards, scoring 91 touchdowns in those seven seasons. After he was injured in 2011 and only played in 11 games, he came back in 2012 and rushed for over 2,000 yards. Other than his recent issues, which are reprehensible, he was generally considered a relatively good citizen. But, his criminal charges were resolved by a misdemeanor plea with no jail time. This team certainly has the cap space. I really believe it should give serious consideration to rolling the dice because someone with this talent (yes, he accumulated a lot of miles over those seven years, but last year, he only played in one game) because someone with his skill-set (1,300 yards in 14 games in the 2013 season with 11 TDs) doesn't come around very often. Let Bortles hand the ball off to AP to set up the pass as he develops as a QB and I think the signing could be transformative for this team.
He's primed to ride the down the back side of the hill.

Quote:He's primed to ride the down the back side of the hill.I agree that it is a gamble, but a team with this recent track record needs to take risks, in my judgment, to break free of mediocrity.
No just no. We need to continue with acquiring people to build on not to ride for a year or two.

I do think we need to take some risks. But they need to be calculated. A 30 year old RB with off the field issues who hasnt played since September isn't typically the kind of risk that pays off

He's making $12.75 million this year and his salary increases by 2 mill for the rest of his contract (through 2017). I know this team has money to burn but you can burn it in smarter ways.
If we were closer to competing for a Super Bowl, I'd say bring AP on and see if he can push us over the top. Where we stand, it is just a no.

Unless you're a believer on Fantasy Island, this entire thread has no wheels. There is NOT a snowballs chance Adrian Peterson even wants to come to Jacksonville.......even if he could. Perhaps we should start living in the real world and besides, the RB position is NOT an area that should be looked at very intently this off season. There are a gazillion other positions that require more attention than this one.

Besides a handful of games, they were ineffective and were not a threat. A good RB that can run, catch from out of the backfield, and pass protect well is VERY high on our needs list. I agree that AP isn't coming here.

I really want to see what toby can bring to the table this year.
lol just kidding.
If we only needed a stud back to put us in superbowl reach for a couple seasons then id be okay with this.
That said i dont feel he will have the dropoff some are claiming is so inevitable. No he wont tote the rock for 2k again in his career but 1,200 - 1500 is not out of the question for a couple more seasons before tailing into the 800-900 range for a season while splitting carries with his replacement. We do have the cap space and posters are trying to use that as justification for keeping liabilities like Alualu,Gerhart and Marcedes around. Drop them all and use the money on AP. |
