Curt Schilling blog on Twitter
|
Has anyone seen the recent developments with Curt Schilling congratulating his daughter on Twitter for getting a scholarship to a small school for softball? I'm by no means a Schilling fan, but he taught some lessons the past few days.
A bunch of guys responded to him saying really really derogatory things about his daughter. he retaliated by calling the guys out. Naming them....what school, their job, what sport they play. People have lost jobs, been suspended from school, kicked off baseball teams. I think its fantastic. People get on the internet and think they are immune from repercussions. They deserve what they were getting for the stuff they said. Note: I did not post the link because there is some derogatory language. If you google Curt Schilling blog, I think you'll get to where you should be. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
It is a different world we live in today.
Freedom of speech is a wonderful thing, but you still have to be aware that there can be consequences for your "free speech" just as there are consequences for your actions. Also remember that the internet is not always as anonymous as you might think it is. There is just not enough accountability in today's world, and that is why you see some of the things that you see today.
I survived the Gus Bradley Error.
In the past 24 hours I've seen someone state something derogatory on Twitter, then have his mugshot, arrest record, divorce papers and even more posted up within mere hours of him hitting "Send". Yeah, you can say what you want but you had better be aware that there are few things more dangerous than motivated people with time on their hands.
I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.
Stop saying whatever stupid thing you're talking about and pay attention to all the interesting things I have to say!
Good for him. Standing up to these internet bullies will make others think twice before saying something off color again.
"Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, if he gets angry, he's a mile away and barefoot."

Sometimes it's better to leave things unsaid than to paint a big bullseye on your back for someone in their mother's basement to target. It's amazing how quickly that can come back to bite you. Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Oh, my ankle bleeds for him.
Okay, with that horrible joke out of the way, I have to say that I agree with the current consensus of this thread. One must always be aware of possible consequences to ones actions.
Power to him, I think the kids who deal with bullying should do the same to call them out.
