I just wish we could get a nice convo going about the good, underrated FAs without the unrealistic expectations exploding.


If we get 1 marquee guy, then a haul that includes something like Brandon Graham, Niles Paul, Derek Newton, and Ron Parker we will be a hugely improved team.

That's the strategy the team has been using (signing 2nd and 3rd tier FAs). I don't see a reason to stray from that now. The only difference being possibly adding that top FA, which wasn't even in consideration the past few years.

Parker is a name to watch, especially if McCourty goes elsewhere.

See that is why we don't allow logic. When you go from thinking of Bryan Bulaga, Doug Free or Joe Barksdale and then someone comes back with Derek Newton. Holy Crap. We just went from filet mignon to a turd from Christopher Walken. It's one thing to bargain hunt, another to join a shooting range where you are the target.

The handful of teams that can sign any of the marquee FA to overpriced deals is literally just about every team in the league if they feel it is worth it.

 

There are at least 22 teams for which this scenario is incredibly unlikely.

Mannn. If McCorty was really as great as everyone thinks why would Belichick let him hit the market? Really. This is a guy who is a team player and has no off the field issues. He was even ok with the idea of being tagged. Does that not interest anyone else? Any chance Bill knows himself his value is overinflated?


For a team like us that is still a bit aways from the playoffs we might as well just draft a corner or two and convert them to free safety.

The KC Star predicts Parker will get 6+ mil AAV in FA. You think Moore is going to get a lot more than that, or you think 6 mil is too much for Parker?

I read that Moore is seeking a contract worth 5 mil annually. Definitely not breaking the bank and Parker could easily end up signing for something similar. Parker scares me because he's a one hit wonder. I've had enough of overpaying guys after one good season.

I do agree that Parnell deserves an extra look. As far as Newton, when one year he allows 37 QB hurries by himself, uh no. Granted, he was better last year, but I don't trust him, because he was abysmal before this one good year.

A bit of both I guess. I think the KC Star has a slight overvaluation of Parker, 4 years/$18-22 million range is where I see him signing and I think Moore gets just north of $6 million per season on a deal like 4 years/$25 million.

I understand Parker is somewhat of a high risk player, but I'm not sold on Moore being anything more than a mediocre free safety. I guess you could say something similar about Ron Parker, but I think Moore has benefitted from a tremendous supporting cast in Denver.
