Philadelphia traded LaSean McCoy to Buffalo for Kiki Alonso

I think the Eagles will end up winning this trade, but Kiko seems light for a 3-4 probably will work out well for both teams.
Quote:Is it me, but is anybody thinking that we could have traded the 3rd pick for McCoy and philly's 1st round pick? It would benefit us alot more. What does Buffalo need with ANOTHER RB? We definitely could have made that trade... because the Eagles would've taken it and ran before we could think twice. The value drop from 3 to 20 is SIGNIFICANTLY more than the value of McCoy.

With the Bills parting ways with Kiko, it's pretty certain Rex will try to bring in David Harris.

Quote:Don't understand the trade at all.I get it from the Eagles perspective. He clashed with Kelly. He cost a ton against the cap. I am less understanding from the Bills perspective. Yes, you could have used an upgrade at RB. Yes your defense performed well without Alonso last year. But this draft is supposedly deep in RB, and even without a first round pick, Buffalo could have gotten a RB to help them. They now have an older, more expensive guy. With Rivers and Alonso gone, with Spikes and Hughes free agents, the LB group, which was once a strength, will be less so now (even though they still have some good young prospects there) unless they re-sign these other guys. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!
Quote:After being shocked and then having time to think about this trade... I'm okay with this trade because we are essentially trading a top 15 LBer for a top 5 RB who is a 3x Pro Bowler. Kiko had an excellent rookie season for us, but he was a liability against the run. He's on the small side and has trouble shedding blocks. His injury is also concerning.Thing is, the issues against the run could be resolved or mitigated with coaching and experience and a year in the weight room. The only concern would be the knee. It wasn't a horrible trade for Buffalo, considering the depth you guys had at LB, and if you get 2 good seasons out of McCoy. But with the depth of this RB class, the Bills could have kept Alonso and still gotten a viable replacement for Spiller. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!

If Alonso weren't coming off of an injury...maybe. We'll see how it works out. Personally, I can't stand Kelly and I hope it blows up in his face. ![]()
I think the trade makes a lot of sense for Buffalo. 8th worst rushing offense in the league last year, but the 4th best defense. Now imagine if their defense takes a step forward this year. Seattle had the top rushing offense, and the best defense. Imagine what Buffalo can do with a significant upgrade at RB. Throw in a decent QB, and they're pretty much playoff contenders. And remember - Alonso didn't play at all this past year.
I was wrong about Trent Baalke.
Quote:Not sure I get it from the Eagles' side either. If Alonso weren't coming off of an injury...maybe.Considering I hate the Eagles and the Bills (for different reasons), I hope it blows up in both of their faces. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!
Quote:Not sure I get it from the Eagles' side either. If Alonso weren't coming off of an injury...maybe. Not that I agree with their plan with this but I think it is all Kelly and his ego. He has disposed of almost all their best players from when he got there. In no way is he qualified to be running the personnel but that is what he is doing. In no way is he qualified to be running the personnel but that is what he is doing. He can fit any running back into that system. He's shown that. He needed extra money to go out and add some secondary help and get that defense playing better. His offense will be fine but it's the defense that needs help. Kiko fills an immediate need, running backs are on the decline (last team to lead the league in rushing to win the SB was the 1985 Bears) and now they get some more money.
I think Eagles won easily, they could go sign Murray for a couple less mill a year. So they have Alonso, they could sign Murray and still save a couple mill. They save a couple mill. with Murray and get Alonso for nothing pretty much lol
@greggrosenthal: 19 players had 250 touches last season. LeSean McCoy had the fewest yards-per-touch of any of them.
Yikes.
Quote:Thing is, the issues against the run could be resolved or mitigated with coaching and experience and a year in the weight room. The only concern would be the knee.Time will tell. Just keep in mind that both knees are a concern with Kiko. He missed all of 2010 in college because he injured the other one was injured in college. He also had a couple DUI related off field incidents in college. I like Kiko, but I like upgrading our offense even more. I hope he does well (except when he plays us). if this trade was a chess match, the question would be which side is 5 moves ahead, only time will tell
Quote:With the Bills parting ways with Kiko, it's pretty certain Rex will try to bring in David Harris. It probably will come down to the Jets and Bills for David Harris' services. It seems like a close call between the two teams. The Jets have the advantage of more salary cap space and Harris having football roots in the organization. The Bills have the advantage of Rex Ryan, some other former Jets Assistant Coaches, and familiarity of scheme. I'll be surprised if a team other than the Jets or Bills lands Harris. Quote:if this trade was a chess match, the question would be which side is 5 moves ahead, only time will tell If Chip Kelly decides to leave Philadelphia for a College Football HC job in the next year or two, the Eagles could be as much of a mess as any team in the NFC when the next HC tries to pick up the pieces. It's likely that the next HC of the Eagles would want to change the direction of the Offense to a much more NFL conventional type of system. |
