Quote:Please...not Suh. I honestly doubt he would even be considered with his history and reputation. He's a bad fit for the best aspect of the rebuild - higher quality character of roster as a whole.

Yea we wouldn't want Suh on our team because he is a big meanie. He'd probably hog all of the ice cream and hot cocoa in the locker room after games. Besides, we all know talent is not important, it's all about character! Yea we may only win 3 games but at least we competed and got better!

Quote:I think we will get Cobb for sure. I hope we get McCourty and one of the available RT's. I do not think they will go hard for Suh. They know they need some playmakers on offense so it feels right for them to make Cobb and maybe Thomas a priority. McCourty may or may not happen, would be a great bonus!

We'll all know soon enough!

I seriously doubt we get Cobb. The only players we have a chance at are the ones close to retirement looking for one more pay day. Cobb still has a lot of winning to do, he's not gonna want to waste time playing in front of tarps with this group of chumps and a buffoon head coach.

I hear Julius doesn't really care about football and is only in it for the money. Perhaps we will give him a huge contract so he can vacation down here and attend ice cream parties every Sunday.

Well, opposing views taken. And I'd be the first to say I'm tired of getting out-hit and out-nastied by our opponents. If his (Suh's) acquisition corrected that, I'd be okay with it. I'm not a fan of his 'style' though. Other positions seem to be of greater importance also. My guess is Caldwell passes.

Where I am most optimistic on Caldwell is the draft again. He did an amazing job last year, if he repeats that kind of performance, we can get 6-7 wins. If he has truly learned his lesson with respect to depleting the experience on the roster, Free-agency is going to be very revealing. Caldwell may well be our most valuable young talent - if he grows, and continues to improve. We will know by Sept.

The state of the roster is not one where we can afford to say, we don't need to worry about that position because we are good enough there... We have only rookies and stop gap players.....

You shouldn't look at Suh as a defensive tackle.... And then look at our roster and say, well we aren't too bad there compared to other places!!

No we should look at Suh as a Future HOF, which is what he is, and the rest of our roster as unknown but promising 2nd and 3rd year players and stop gap players.

Plus we can still afford to go after other players at positions of need like FS

Caldwell needs to plan on making a run at Suh..,, it is unlikely a player of his caliber at his stage of his career will come out in the next 10 years... And just as unlikely that when he does we will have the cap room to make the necessary offer, And still add other key pieces.

You seem like a pleasant fellow. Must be fun for your friends and family to walk through life with such a positive ray of sunshine accompanying them.

Man. So much effort to be funny. I think if you would've thrown another ice cream joke or 2 in there you woulda nailed it.

Quote:Boy is this fan base going to be disappointed if this is just another typical Jags Free Agency. I don't think it will be but the hype around this Free Agency is out of this world right now.
There is no avoiding fans being disappointed when they have such inflated... even unrealistic, wishlists. Given that there is the possibility that some coaches tenure here could be on the line if this coming season isn't substantially better (6-10 or better) than the last couple we've endured, I would be inclined to think that the check book is going to open wider than we've seen here in a while to try to do something about it.

Having said this however, I would be surprised if the team went absolutely hog wild and offered a kajillion dollars in an attempt to get every premier name in f/a! Other teams (the redskins come to mind) have tried this sort of thing in the past and they got burned by it.

I y'ams who I y'ams and thats all I y'ams...

Quote:The last two offseasons were pretty much what the organization promised.

This offseason they are expected to be aggressive and spend alot. I would expect that.
I expect you will be wrong. One to two mid tier players. No top ten players at their position.

He needs to branch out. More talk about flavors, toppings, maybe the bowl or cone that it comes in. Then he can start with the Carvel ice cream cakes and trips to Baskin Robbins. There's just so much untapped potential in the "Gus likes ice cream" line of humor, it's a shame there's so little potential in the guy trying to write the jokes.

So what "top ten players" are available? Suh, Julius Thomas, McCourty?

Quote:Asked Caldwell if he is ready to take some big swings next week.  He said "Yeah if the right pitch comes."  Per O'Halloran.  This gets me excited.  Do you guys think we should find out a lot of information over the weekend as soon as the Jags can start talking to players on Saturday?

Looks like we got a swing and a miss with AluAlu coming back.
