I see a lot of "As long as he doesn't go to the Colts". He'd be a scarier additon to Houston in my opinion. Watt and Suh, then throw in a freak like Clowney? Unreal.

Either way we don't want him in the division.

But Houston has not been mentioned as a potential landing spot. Indy has. That is why.

I second the notion that if we do not pursue or sign him, that the preference is that he signs out of the division.  It would be great to see him in a Jag jersey, but at around $16m per year, I personally would rather have Iupati, Bulaga, AND Odrick (or some other combination of 3 nice FAs) for about the same amount of money.

Disagree, out of the names you mentioned Suh is the only one who serves that kind of money,, he will change the outcome of games.

The constant Suh to Miami talk is baffling to me and not one reporter has put together a cohesive idea on how it could happen.

Miami has the 9th least cap room in the league at roughly $10.5 million. That space isn't going to allow for them to sign Suh, so I'd guess they'd need to at a minimum roughly double the space they have. Mike Wallace is their most expensive player and it sounds like they do want him gone, but he has almost $10 million in dead money this season. He'd only give them an additional $2.5 million in cap space if he was cut. Their other highly paid players either make little sense to cut (Cameron Wake and Mike Pouncey) or have significant dead money attached to them (Brandon Albert, Reshad Jones, Dion Jordan, and Brent Grimes). Dannell Ellerbe ($5.6 million) and Randy Starks ($5 million) are really the only moderately paid players with little dead money and cutting them could give Miami roughly $10.5 million in additional cap space. So to just get to $23 million under they would have to rid themselves of Wallace, Ellerbe, and Starks on top of all the players they cut earlier in the week.

Sacrificing your entire WR corps, a starting DT, and a starting LB just to sign Suh makes no sense, especially when you consider they still have to pay an entire draft class. Not to mention that unless they plan on only bringing in Suh and giving Tannehill no weapons outside of Clay, they'll still need to sign more free agents to make up for all the players they cut. Miami is a mediocre team with limited cap space, using all of it to go after one player, albeit a great player, while simultaneously making other positions weaker is nonsensical.

Question: can teams release statements saying they've reached a tentative deal with a player prior to Tuesday?

Terms can be agreed upon as early as 4pm tomorrow. Nothing can be signed "officially" though

Appreciate it. I thought so but wasn't 100% sure.

I doubt a team will do that. They'll be plenty of reports saying "player X has agreed in principle to Team A" from the usuals on Twitter though.

The latest news on Miami's interest in Ndamukong Suh is here: http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000...i-dolphins

Quote:The three-time All-Pro is expected to command north of $100 million with upwards of $60 million in guarantees. Salguero was told that the "Dolphins are confident they're going to put a great offer on the table for Suh. They are confident they can get him."

According to this article, Miami would be a good scheme fit for Suh. However, with $64 million, it is obvious Oakland will offer him more money.

Well thought out post and correct. They will have to release a ton to sign him and their draft picks

Watch out for the Colts though.

Agreed, I think Oakland is the team to watch though.

Why the Colts? So far I have seen no reports about them wanting Suh.

This guy thinks Miami would be making a mistake to sign Suh, because of what it will do to their salary cap in years to come:

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/23863...mukong-suh

"However, in making Suh the league's richest defender, all the Dolphins will be accomplishing is solving one problem (that isn't even really a problem) by creating several more.

"And all that's going to do is keep the Dolphins mired in the same spiral of mediocrity that's been giving fans of the team vertigo for years."
