Jaguars re-sign Tyson Alualu, 2 year deal

#61

Luckily, tomorrow's Ozone will be all MJD so we will be spared the complaints in that column for at least a day.

Quote:How do you figure? He's never had as few tackles in a season as he had last year with 30, and his 2 sacks on the year is his second lowest only topping last year's total of 1.5. He's never had over 3.5. Typically he gets 1 pass defensed, but he never even had that last year, and he's never had an INT. When it comes to big plays, his career total is 1 forced fumble, and again that wasn't last year. So how is personal worst in terms of stats considered "better than expected"? If that's the case then we have a serious problem with expectations.

Good signing. Alualu provides depth at both the 5 and 3 techniques. He has 2 years in the system and has shown steady improvement and the ability to be available on game day. This signing helps maintain flexibility while Marks and Miller are injured. Also doesn't tip our hand if Leonard Williams is the FO's player that they are targeting.
Respect the game. Play with a sense of urgency.

1.) Take care of the ball. Win the turnover battle.

2.) It's all about 3rd down. Win on 3rd down to win the game.

3.) Playmakers make plays. The only reason that you put your uniform on is to make plays. In order to EARN your paycheck, you must make plays.

Learn from the great collapse of 2023.

What's the deal with this "Technique" stuff? Can we not just call them Defensive Tackle and Defensive End? Not directed at you personally, it just seems like it's taken over the dialogue about the Dline. The same with wide receiver, they used to be called Flanker and Split End, then we started the "number 1, number 2" crap and there's no differentiation in the actual positions they play even though they are very different.

Quote:Anyone who hates this resigning is just dumb. Tyson knows the system and has steadily improved year after year primarily in the run game. Big Red isn't getting any younger and Tyson is quality rotational depth.

It's amazing how players can improve year after year for so many years yet still be a marginal backup on one of the worst teams in the NFL during their time with the team. Reminds me of the braintrust from last offseason who insisted there was something in Henne worthy of paying him more than the league minimum. Caldwell came in with a lot of fanfare, but so far he hasn't done much to show he really knows how to build a winner.

There is a big difference in responsibilities//skill sets when it comes to a "technique" . A 0 tech is nowhere near a 3 tech.

Any word on re-signing Ball, JT Thomas or Pasztor?

There is a lot of teams upset we signed Aluahu today. Great signings in Davis and Aluahu. Davis is going to be a problem to sign next year. On a lot smaller scale this is like the Cobb deal. Lots of teams wanted Cobb. Suh and Thomas will most likely be the only big names to hit FA.

This will be Caldwell's best signing all off season. Top 3 defensive lineman in Jaguars history.

Is this guy ever going to step his game up? It would be that time.

Yeah. Did you take 35 that seriously?

So he is somewhere around anthony maddux and larry smith.

Get the point?

Me saying i can name 35 dlineman that are better is just as absurd as someone saying he is a top 3 dlineman for the jags. Lol

Quote:When did I say he wouldn't be resigned? Knarn put an article up last week about how they were talking to his agent at the combine.

I said he wasn't good. He's not. I don't care that he signed a contract with us, he still doesn't start. Blaine Gabbert was traded for a draft pick. Does that make him good too?

Does this change our draft/free agency? Not in the slightest.
Trotting backwards Joe. You strongly implied it until reports were he was in talks.

"Who cares he isnt even a jaguar anymore, goodbye"

"With two hurt DL maybe just maybe they dont want him back"

Then slowly went to how little he was worth if he was resigned. But there is no doubt you thought him gone and that the Jags agreed with your assessment he could be replaced easily with an undrafted FA.

I doubt you will ever say you were wrong and the Jaguars have quite a bit different opinion of the player than you do.

Is comparing Alualu to Larry Smith also part of your not serious exaggerations for the sake of emphasis?

Tyson Alualu returning to JAX. His Run D grade in recent years: 2011 -17.7 2012 -11.1 2013 -6.3 2014 -2.9 #Improvement

uh oh, he is up to -2.9 in the run game lol. A beast, lol, I see what your expectations are. Not much of a pass rush and not even that good in run support. I have liked almost all of Dave's moves but dont agree with this one. Oh well
