Patrick Willis to retire
|
Had some injury issues, but I never would have expected this.
Justin Smith retiring as well. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/source--49e...44597.html We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
He was a heckuva player.
Would have been nice to get him instead of Derrick Harvey. Worst to 1st. Curse Reversed!
Smith and Willis? Huge hit to the D.

I remember seeing him play in Seattle many years ago when both teams were nowhere near as good as they have been of late. Might have been his second year in the League. The man was everywhere on the field that night.
One heckuva player.
I'm trying to make myself more informed and less opinionated.

Great careers for a couple of great players! Wish them both good luck in the future.
On a side note: WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON IN SF? lol
Reminded of the special they did on Willis growing up and the relationship he had with his father. Dude overcame so much off the field. Hoping he can continue to make strides in retirement.
Only a chump boos the home team!
Shocking. Is his toe injury getting progressively worse? Maybe he takes a year off and comes back for a few more seasons starting 2016? He was bound for the HoF but I'm not sure he gets in if he's played his last down. 8 seasons is a really short period of time, especially for a LB.

At his peak was the best LB in the NFL and arguably the best LB in the last couple decades.

it's the smartest decision he's probably ever made. a LB in the NFL is likely to have memory loss and other issues later in life. Calling it quits early is smart.
he should be set for life as long as he spended his money WISELY. judging by this decision to retire, he probably is smart and still has millions in the bank. He shouldn't even have to work another day in his life.

This is the part I don't understand. I could make that money, then spend it however I wanted and still be set for life. I guess I have simplistic values though. I wouldn't get a 10m car and 20m house.
