CB Davon House signing with Jaguars

Quote:Which begs the question...

McCray is the fan favorite, Colvin is the best CB on the team, and House is being paid to start.

Colvin, House on two corner sets? Or, is it McCray, House on first down, with Colvin replacing McCray on second and third?

With Colvin's talent and House's size, they've got to be the outside corners even in nickel.

According to the team and prior to picking up House, they didn't plan on trying to move any CBs to FS. But, that sentiment could change now.

Many options. The safety crop is weak, but there are a couple CB prospects I could see us targeting in the draft to play FS. So, CB could get even crazier when the draft comes.

Once a weakness, appears to have become a strength.
DMac has one spot locked down. House wanted to start when he was with the Pack, and likely a big reason (along with that paycheck) that he went with us. I'd say our starting CBs are locked with Dmac/House.

That leaves Colvin and Gratz. Colvin is the better nickel corner but he offers flexibility of being able to play FS. I think this is the route they go with.

I'm worried that since we already paid him so much, that he won't play as good as he used too. He already has his payday. Lets just home he hasn't taken advantage of this.

He wanted to start as well. He'll get his opportunity here.

You literally take that risk with everyone. He's also only 25 and can earn an even bigger contract in a few years if he plays well.

[Image: jaguarsb_logo.gif] Jaguars sign CB Davon House (4 years, $25 million): CALDWELL Grade
Yes, David Caldwell has finally earned his own grade. He's not yet as bad as Matt Millen - he needs to shout homophobic remarks at his own players and criticize Polish people on live television to get there - but he might be just as inept at his job as Millen was, albeit without the impressive longevity Millen maintained.

To be clear, the $25 million figure is an approximation. We know Davon House will be getting $6.25 million per year over four seasons, so I'm assuming the sum total of this deal is $25 million, but it could be more or less. Regardless, it's an awful signing. House has the size that Gus Bradley likes out of his defensive backs, but that's about it. House is not a good player, which is why he was 21st in my Free Agent Cornerback Rankings. He didn't even warrant a write-up.

Has there ever been a FA signing where someone hasn't said that a team overpaid?

Quote:don't we play mostly cover 3 zone? if we wanted man/press corner then we should look at Revis.

We run press man, and Revis will never come to Jax unless we pay him 20 mil a year

Quote:House, who has spent his four seasons in the league with Green Bay, has played 29 games in the last two years. He totaled 63 tackles with two interceptions and 20 passes defended.
 ^ also one FF

Quote:House played 411 snaps on defense in 2014, per Pro Football Focus, grading out negatively in run defense but positively in pass coverage.
