Quote:9M is a little crazy for a RB. Wouldnt be upset if it happened, but think the money could be better spent elsewhere.

It's a half mil more than Jared Odrick.

Wow!   That's more than I thought J.T. Thomas would get,

He could play every linebacker spot and was a very solid 4th linebacker. Sucks he left.

David, your thoughts on the Suh/Ngata situation? Pretty nice consolation prize no?

Yeah I liked him when he had to start because of injuries. It would have been nice to keep him around.

True.  But that type of LB usually doesn't get paid along these lines.   Even with the salary cap increase in the NFL,  I didn't see a Giants like offer to J.T. Thomas coming.

I read Detroit may switch to the 3-4 because of him.

This is weird: Frank Gore to the Colts is breaking news on the homepage, even though that happened before the Jimmy Graham and Sam Bradford trades.

The Lions front office handled the Ndamukong Suh situation poorly over a long period of time.   There's no way Suh should have been able to hit the open market.

Haloti Ngata is a very good short term option.   The Lions need to try to extend his contract.  Both in terms of the $ 8.5 million on his 2015 contract and that he's scheduled to be an UFA in 2016.   The trade terms for Ngata are about what they should be,  based on his age ( 31 ),  ability,  and value he would have had on the open market if the Ravens released him.

The Lions still need to make at least one more major DT addition this off-season.
