Blackmon suspended

Quote:Would you trade Blackmon for a top 10 pick now?  You probably still wouldn't would you?

I wouldn't.

Ehh,  if he agrees to a residential, in-patient type rehab treatment - then it would go a long way to helping his case with the team and the league.  I hope he does check in somewhere for at least 8 weeks - hopefully longer.

Absofreakinglutely he could have owned this city.

As pass happy as the fans are?

As long as it has taken for this team to find even a competent WR since Jimmy Smith?!?

Had he stayed clean and healthy, there would be parks named and statue cast in his honor.

Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!

So yes, is they don't know; they're ignorant. That's what the word means.

And what would happen if you drank a beer or a cocktail? Would you finish it and think "that was nice, but that's plenty" or would you "fall of the wagon"? Because addicts don't have control over that choice, their addiction controls them. That's what being an addict means.

I actually know a few former addicts that have been sober for well over 20 years.  So saying that they will definitely fall off the wagon is pretty ignorant.

Quote:well, given that the organization said they are committed to helping him, ummmmm how about a darn good organization to work for that cares about its players??
This guy has had people trying to help him for years now.

DUI in college.

DUI in the NFL

Postive drug test

A few games after he came back another positive drug test

You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink.

Blackmon is one of those idiots who does not learn and will keep making mistakes until he's kicked out.  3 violations in less than 2 years is just insane.

Lots of people have tried to help him,  He had a whole fanbase behind him,  he's just a moron.

Quote:Decriminalize is a better option, takes the fed out of the picture vs them giving sanction to a private act. .........ek hope I didn't cross that political line :ermm:

Neither option would matter because the NFL is a private business and can set their own rules regarding drug use, especially since they're a professional sports league.

Dude, WTH!

I will personally write a letter of apology to Dan Marino if he would just lift this friggin curse

In case no one has posted Blackmon's official statement yet:

Quote:<p style="font-size:12px;color:rgb(51,51,51);font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">"I want to sincerely apologize to Mr. Khan, my teammates, my coaches and to the Jaguars fans for not utilizing the resources that I was provided to overcome my challenges," Blackmon said in a statement released to Pro Football Talk. "I am determined to overcome the issues that have resulted in this situation, and I truly appreciate the support that the Jaguars and my agent have shown me.

<p style="font-size:12px;color:rgb(51,51,51);font-family:Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;">"I will address these matters with the type of intensity I usually direct toward my on-field play so that I can be ready to be a productive member of the team and community next season. Again, I am truly sorry to Mr. Khan, my teammates and coaches and to the Jaguars fans for the impact of my situation on the team as well as to my family and friends and those that have been there for me during these challenging times. Nobody is more disappointed with all of this than me."

Maybe definitely is the wrong word. But the question remains the same; if they were to have a beer or a cocktail or any alcohol, what would happen? That's the point I'm trying to make here, an addict never stops being an addict. All it takes is one mistake and they're right back to square zero.

lol @ the people that still believe in being cursed by beating a washed up old broken down Marino.

If anything the curse was firing Tom Coughlin.

Its sad all the way around and we can only speculate the cause.

but the fact remains, the NFL tests for weed, he knew it and thought he could get away with it.

OR

Its something worse.....in which case....same deal. Fresh off latest suspension he flaunts again.

He stands to lose over $10,000,000....if the Jags cut him.

Will THAT get his attention?

Keep in mind the money hasn't done a thing to motivate him yet.

"I've seen the needle and the damage done

A little part of it in everyone

But every junkie's like a settin' sun." - Neil Young

I'm afraid he's done.

oh and he didn't write that statement...his agent or someone else did.

Because Jaguars is our mantra  Wallbash

It's happening. The prophecy is coming true. Teddy and Devante Parker are speaking with Jacksonville realitors at this very moment.

this is true but things like smoking and drinking are not banned in the NFL because they are legal acts, things like DUI and use of illegal drugs are against the NFL policy and every work place because they're illegal acts.

you could see the day where some substances that are illegal now are no longer illegal and their recreational or medicinal use wouldn't be a matter, so long as not used while at team facilities.

Whatever curse it is, take it away, somebody. I'm literally crying over here

Every freakin' time, it's always some sort of bad news about this team.

there is no curse for giving a whoopin' to a QB that was making his last start anyway.

As said, if anything the curse is for firing a head coach who actually was a good football coach and won back to back division titles in Jacksonville, and then replacing him with a hiney.
