That'd be crazy.

I was wrong about Trent Baalke.

No. But if that is so. They would want to trade up to get a QB, and they just got another first round pick from Seattle...brings up a lot more new questions.

Henne for Brees straight up.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

We'll even throw in Stephen Morris if they ask nicely enough.

I think Drew Brees is sending a subtle or maybe even a not so subtle message to the Saints brass:

Blows my mind they would trade his main target after everything that happened with him. Not a bad deal over all tho for both sides really. Im not sure if the Saints are really willing to do a full on reboot with a new QB tho...

But he's going to play until he's 50!

Be like George Blanda: he better start learning to kick extra points!

I don't think he gets traded. But if he does, the Jets make a lot of sense.

The downside that jumps out,  at least on this end,   is throwing in Met Life Stadium and in the colder weather road games in Buffalo and New England is much more difficult than throwing in the combined NFC South home games.   Drew Brees is a future HOF QB but he's has much more success in good/ ideal weather than in the elements.   Adding to that,  Brees isn't getting any younger.

If the Jets some how got DB that would be one heck of an offseason for them...in that move alone.

If I'm the saints, I use the two firsts this year, and a future 1st and move up for Mariota or Jameis. Sit him a year behind brees and give Brees the honeymoon he deserves.

EDIT: There's not a player who means more to a city than Brees. As a former NOLA resident, the guy is the embodiment of the city.

Speaking of Saints firesales, I wonder if they would consider moving Jairus Byrd and for what compensation.

I know he just retructured his roster bonus so it seems unlikely for this year, but they will have to think about the future of their cap. Next year he jumps from about 5.5 to 11 million. Also, he is coming off a meniscus injury that landed him on IR.

Maybe something like Byrd, 1.13, and 1.31 for 1.03 and 2.04. The Saints clear cap space by dumping Byrd. The top picks have recently began to become more desirable than the bottom picks of the first to some teams.

I think it's fair to say that if not for Drew Brees,  there's a good chance the Saints franchise would have moved to San Antonio.

I wish man but I dont think its realistic. I dont think the Saints are rebuilding so much as moving on. Vacarro, Byrd, Keenan Lewis and perhaps Tramon Williams is one hell of a secondary. They have some nice players in Cam Jordan and Junior Galette.

My guess is they move chips for Mariota and then use the remainder of the draft to stockpile defense. Mariota sits this year, and next year they have high picks in the draft for offensive weapons. 2 year retooling.

Don't ask me why this is on the front page of Yahoo but apparently this news network believes the Jaguars offered the Saints Blake Bortles for Drew Brees

I'm not even sure this was worth me posting, either.
