Blackmon suspended

Already have dozens of fans from other teams on Reddit/FF saying they hope their team picks him up if we cut him.

The difference between Blackmon and Dez Bryant, is that at least Blackmon seems like a nice guy and not a huge D Bag to go along with his issues.

Now Blackmon has to go home and face his family and friends.  Not a situation I envy.

This whole situation makes me sick.  On the last board I predicted he would be out of the league in three years.  That looks to be optimistic.  It's really sad.  Here's a man with solid talent that can set him and his family financially for life but he can't shake his demons.  We all tend to look at this through a fan prism, but on a human scale it's very sad.  I truly hope he gets his life on track.

Quote:The fact that people continue to have faith that the next season will be season when things get better...is downright hilarious. It will never happen. Better order bigger tarps boys! So much for pro sports in Jacksonville.

Well this topic brought out the trolls I see

;

How many times have I said on this board the last few weeks to trade blackmon.

Now, You won't get jack crap for the second coming of Reggie Williams

I apologize if this was already answered on one of the first 16 pages, but does anyone here know if players are tested for and can be suspended for alcohol alone? What is the NFL policy in that regard?

How would everybody feel if the Jaguars were 8-0 rather than 0-8?  What if Blackmon was a huge part of the 8-0 mark?  I suspect that a lot of the bad things being said about him would not be here.  No, he would still be an idiot.

The bottom line is its a shame when any young man has to battle something so severe that nothing seems to help him overcome it.  How do you battle stupidity?
Money, fame, etc. doesn't matter to someone addicted, it's all about how to get the next "fix" be it some heavy drug or alcohol.

Justin has the talent to be something special in this league.  He is also a very young man put in a position that perhaps, he doesn't know how to cope with.  You think???
Laughing

I'm all for helping this guy to overcome his inner demons, not so much for the player, but for the man.  I would hate to see yet another talented young person in our society fall down and become a burden to our society rather than him being successful and productive.

As for the football aspect, he needs to overcome a bit more.  He needs to prove that he can not only handle his personal problems, but he also needs to prove that he can play at the high level that he has already shown.

I for one hope and pray that he can get though this, get the help and support that he needs, and return.  He's got too much going for him and too much to lose, too bad he's not smart enough to understand it
both on and off the field.

When you get into the endzone, act like you've been there before.

Quote:Maybe Bridgewater's presence will help Blackmon. Per all accounts Bridgewater is a class act on an off the field.

Yeah, that's the ticket.

You're really reaching for the Bridgewater idolization, aren't you.

Based on that theory we ought to sign Tebow. Then Blackmon could come back as an elder at First Baptist.

The sun's not yellow, it's chicken.

We have the worst QB situations in the NFL and Bridgewater is one of the top QB prospects of the last decade.

You need to accept it. He will be the face of our franchise. Not that scrub samoan kid.

Agreed, except I really don't have any confidence that he's going to shake it at this point. I wonder if he still thinks he doesn't have a problem.

Why? None of us know any details of either of his suspensions.

I don't think the CBA allows a player to be cut for failing a test.

Not that that has stopped other teams in the past. But they usually have to put forth a different excuse reason to cut the player.

Not much point in cutting him. He's either going to get the message this time, or the lifetime ban will pretty much make the decision for him.

Yeah, that's the only difference.

IIRC we cut Nate Collins after he failed a drug test.

But I think what you are referring to is the term "conduct detrimental to the team". I'm pretty sure a failed drug test would fall under that category.

Told you we would lose in the Bye Week

Quote:Still literally waiting for one good reason to actually cut him.

A) We don't need the money.

B ) He is our best player.

C) We have hardly any talent.

Doing it to "make a point" or because we are angry mad sad time frowny face whine whine, would be ridiculous.
That's the problem.

What good are you to the team if you cant stay on the field and keep your nose clean?
"Before you criticize a man, walk a mile in his shoes. That way, if he gets angry, he's a mile away and barefoot."

Why cut him? This is a business. Use his talent next year, if he violates again, we dont have to pay him. Its in his contract. And no other team would be able to use his talents either. I see a win/win as far as next season goes.

Besides, you have to be dumb not to draft any WRs next draft.
If you think I offended you, don't worry, I meant to. #facts
