Of the guys they trotted out today, every one of them talked about Gus and how impressed they were.  At least half of them also spoke about how they reached out to other players around the league to ask them about Jacksonville, and they got nothing but positive feedback.  Take that for what it's worth.  Players want to play for Gus, and they want to be on the ride as the team starts to ascend from the depths of ineptitude.  I think that turnaround will happen very quickly.

Agreed.  Not expecting a super bowl run next year, but a quality product on the field and 8-8 or higher record would definitely show the ship is headed in the right direction.

I agree.   Sometimes, on 1010xl, he seems like the only adult in the room.

Agree. I think he actually makes the afternoon show listenable.

Otherwise it would just be Frangie talking about the 1982 Florida-Georgia game and Ballou hitting on Blaylock.

Or Frangie saying something wrong, being corrected, saying "and that's my point"...and Ballou talking about Blaylock's sundress.

It really would be great if the team "starts to rise from the depths of ineptitude very quickly", but I wonder how quickly it will be? Given the players already brought on board, and the likely acquisitions at draft time, I would have to think that the team is in better roster shape than it has been in some time. Will that improved roster translate into a better end of the season record?

I know players say how 'impressed' they are with Gus, but seriously... what else are they gonna say? It wouldn't make sense to burn bridges before you've crossed them; and other players around the league are generally going to say what people want to hear, disingenuous or not. Still... I'll hope that with these veterans here to help (hopefully) we'll have a better season.

The continual ingestion of 'Gus juice' eventually leads to building a tolerance to it's effects, much the same as with other hallucinogenic drugs. After two years of Gus juice, it's time to start seeing the rubber meet the road. Talk only goes so far.

I'm pretty sure we all realize this.

Make no mistake, we're excited now but if things still don't improve then it may be time for change.  The time to expect and see wins is now.

Ahhh, typical Jags offseason.  Sign a few players, forget about the losses, expectations build.  Then regular season hits and, WHAM!

I also seem to remember Caldwell indicating he hasn't spent as much money as he planned.

Does this mean another big signing, whether Murray or Hardy?

I doubt there are any other big signings. Likely going to focus on depth and special teams from here out.

If his plan was Thomas, Cobb, McCourty, Parnell, and Odrick .... he expected to spend a lot more money than he did.
