The top three of this draft - Teddy, Mariota, and Clowney - each have outstanding potential at a position of need. This, coupled with the overall wretched state of our roster and the possibility of future first round picks, makes trading down an appealing option.

Well yes, I do, and I did. Teddy is still an absolutely phenomenal prospect. However, Marcus Mariota's potential makes Teddy's extra polish negligible, and Clowney's supreme talent is comprable to or in excess of either of the others'.


No matter how we slice it, we will be getting a game changer in the top three. Extra first rounders is icing on the case. Rest easy, Jags fans. Talent is coming.

First of all, your absolute shrill if you say its "nowhere," If Bridgewater was 6'4 225 lbs we wouldn't even be having this discussion. Second of all its a similar comparison.

 

You have a pro style progression read qb vs. spread option, athletic, qb. 

 

Peyton vs. Leaf

Luck vs. Rg3

Bridgewater vs. Mariota

 

Just based on trend alone and the success of the qbs in this match up, who would someone in their right mind pick??????

If you pick the wrong QB, it would set this franchise back another 3 years.


If this team has the first overall pick, they CANNOT trade down. They must take the QB -- whether that would be Mariota or Bridgewater -- that they believe has the best chance to turn this broken franchise around.


If they do pick Clowney or trade down, it means they don't believe any QB prospect this year can turn this franchise around.

I'm not sure if you've watched the Jags as of late but Jedd Fisch has incorporated a lot of college spread/option offense in his playcalling lately. He just doesn't have the personnel to pull it off.
