I begged them to let me go & I wouldn’t tell anyone what he did. They took me out into the hall, pushed me down & went back inside his apartment. I crawled to the elevator and ran into CMPD (Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department) Hardy exercised his right under North Carolina law to appeal the conviction.^[15] After playing Week 1, Hardy was deactivated Week 2 against the Detroit Lions.^[16] On September 17, 2014 Hardy agreed to be placed on the exempt list. He continued to draw a salary of $13.1 million in spite of being ineligible to play in NFL games or practice with the Panthers.^[17] The charges against Hardy were dismissed on February 9, 2015 after the accuser failed to show for court.^[18]

North Carolina has screwy laws. He was found guilty at a bench trial. From there he was set to have a jury trial and that is where the charges were dropped.

Not sure he did do it or not. But if it is a basless claim by a angry woman and the charges were dropped why is the NFL still not realeased a statement about his status. So im guessing somthing happend and she was paid off.

I'd try to sign him at or slightly above his market value and place a clause in his contract that any remaining guarantees get waived if he's convicted of any violent crimes. I'm not sure if that is legal under the CBA, but we were able to put something similar into Blackmon's contract with substance abuse.

To me it goes both ways and both should be seen equally among all genders, age, race, etc. Yes, he did have an altercation w/ a woman, but is that really any different than any other human being( man, woman, child etc?) Why is it  JUST because its a woman it is a problem for some? Is it ok if its a man? Or better if it was a minor? NO!  It should be why is he hitting someone at all?! There was supposedly photographic evidence along with other content that the league has petitioned to obtain for their investigation.  Not sure if they ever got a response from the prosecutors.  This report did indicate that there was evidence of a financial settlement.  If the victim won't press charges, the case goes away.

The victim needs to testify at trial to convict him. The prosecutors can't show pictures without the victim to testify to the jury that Hardy did this to her. If she shows up at trial he is toast. If she doesn't the prosecutors are almost forced to drop the charges.

I think I dislike the person more than I like the player in this situation, and I like the player quite a bit. I'm all for bringing in some nasty non choir boy players like Parnell, but a legitimately bad human being like Hardy I would pass. 

 

I am content with merely spending more than the 2nd and 3rd place spenders combined this offseason. If Dave wants to add another ancillary piece or two that would be great, but another expensive splash player just because FA fever is strong is not necessary to me.
