Because I think there will be many players better than him available at 36. Hopefully he is already gone so the temptation won't even be there.

The RB from Ohio State is the only one I could see breaking that streak next draft season (his name escapes me, but he basically carried Ohio state to the national title). Maybe the cowboys go RB in the first round because of the loss of Murray, but the position has been devalued.

Ezekiel Elliott. I would love to get him next year. But I can't imagine we have to wait a year for the streak to end because the Cowboys overvalued running backs in 2014, pick late in the first round, and have few other holes to fill. I would say the 49ers are another candidate to draft a running back early if they did not suddenly have a rash of retirements on defense.

I am getting the general feeling that Melvin Gordon's stock is dropping to the point where he falls out of Rd 1 and may be available to the Jags at Pick 36. I think he offers pretty good value at Pick 36 and I could see the Jags selecting him at that pick.

Where do you get that general feeling from? Melvin Gordon is still mocked as a first round pick.

 

I don't see us picking Gordon at 36 just because he is available. If another need can be filled then, we may want to pick a running back later in the draft.

And I believe Dave C is going to pick the best available player at number 36- and if Gordon is there, it will probably be him.

I don't think Gordon "falls" to the 2nd round because I don't think he should be drafted in the 1st anyway. I think he goes mid to late 2nd round.

Do the Cards need one ? Or are they just interested in AP ?


Anyway, my point was that there are teams which now no longer want a RB. That list could also have included the Bills, the Colts and the Seahawks (if Lunch had retired) too. All are now settled.
