Obama suggests mandatory voting might be a good idea

Quote:Lol ignorant voting is how we ended up with presidents like Bush and Obama with the alternatives McCain And Kerry, you don't think those four idiots are responsible for the deaths of anyone!? Heck one year in the Iraq cost more American lives then all gun crime.
No I don't think it's necessarily ignorant voting. Has more to do with the DNC and RNC pushing the people they want (for obvious reasons) into the position of being the people you get to vote between.

Using the term ignorant voting is funny though. It very much could mean people who don't agree with me. Not that you are but that is usually what it means when people throw around the term ignorant.

Some people are like:

Quote:Not for me I'm all for opposing views but it's the people with no views that treat voting like American idol I want to stay home
and others are like:

Quote:Yep, exactly right.
I suppose you would prefer Russia or China then huh? Those most be your model society's.

What do you want to bet that disproportionately affects blacks

Actually my personal distaste is white leftists, African-Americans have them to blame for a great deal of their cultural ills.

Didnt say I'd stop you, I just wish you'd stop yourself. I'm for more freedom, not less. People have the right to be wrong, you and I dont have the right to stop them except in certain circumstances that affect everyone.

There was a Harvard study that polled participating voters in 2008, I'll find the actually study later but it was something like 80% polled didn't know the name of their representative, 60% couldn't name the three branches of government, I think it was close to 40% couldn't even name the opposing candidate. Ignorant voting isn't an exaggeration it's a sad reality.

Clearly we need more funding for education!

Fair enough.

I don't wish you wouldn't vote. I just wish you wouldn't vote along conservative lines. Don't you wanna be a commie?  Wink

I did not mean to imply it was no ignorance in voting. I was referring to the examples of the presidents. Those options were pushed by the DNC and RNC. So ignorance had little to do with them being the finalists.

The fact that there is only two major parties is a big thanks to ignorant voting populace. Most voters are lazy and just default to the party close to them even if the candidate is in direct contradiction with them on most issues.

Not at all. Campaign finance screwed us there. The DNC and the RNC or the only two parties capable of mobilizing the $$$ needed to run national elections and that influences state and local elections due to the near infinite flow of money. That's why libertarians and greens have to run as D or R if they want to win elections.

Fix campaign finance and fix the two party ownership and allow more voices to be heard.

I think everyone should vote but I don't think people should be forced to do it.

Conservative white people share quite a bit of blame, too.

Quote:So it'll be okay if we can just repeal the 2nd Amendment.

Also ignorant voting doesn't kill people.  Ignorant gun ownership?  Yeah, that kills people.  Lot's of people.

Lol. Crazy logic to anyone with common sense.
