2015 Mock Drafts
|
OK guys, the latest trade rumor I heard involves the Saints which are looking to retool their entire team and with a 36 year old QB, perhaps they could use a QB like Mariota.
So the trade goes like this, the Saints send Picks 13 and 31 and another pick or two. If the Saints send their 2nd Rd pick then the deal is set. The Saints have two 3rd Rd picks and the combination of the two Rd 1 picks plus a Rd 3 pick should be enough to get the Raiders to take a trade if the Jags pass and take the DE. So I am thinking that the trade is based upon what the Raiders would take since the Redskins are thought to be a team that might draft Mariota for themselves and so too might the Jets. Accordingly teams looking to trade up need to deal with the Titans, the Jaguars or the Raiders and it could be the Raiders that set the price to move up. So think of the trade with the Saints as exchanging Pick 3 for Picks 13, 31 and 75. I think the Saints are a very viable player in this Mariota trade market because they have two Rd 1 selections. I can see where the Saints may look for a young qb to start grooming behind Brees, but I can't imagine them investing so much at this point to acquire said qb knowing that Brees probably has several years left in him.

Here is my post 1st week of FA draft.
1. Dante Fowler, DE/OLB, Florida 2. Duke Johnson, RB, Miami (Johnson can also return kick offs) 3. Nate Orchard, OLB, Utah (would play behind Skuta) 4. Ben Koyack, TE, Notre Dame 5. Shiquille Mason, G/C, Georgia Tech (becomes the Jaguars backup interior OL) 6. Adrian Amos, S, Penn St (would be Brown's backup at FS) 7. Blake Bell, TE, Oklahoma (more competition at TE - may end up on practice squad)
In this mock draft I have a trade scenario:
Rd 1(3): Dante Fowler - DE - Florida Jags Trade Picks 36 (Rd 2) and 138 (Rd 5) to Bills for Picks 50 (Rd 2) and 81 (Rd 3) Rd 2(50): Jay Ajayi - RB - Boise State Rd 3(67): Tyler Lockett - Slot WR/KR - Kansas State Rd 3(81): Clive Walford - TE - Miami Rd 4(103): Cody Prewitt - FS - Mississippi Rd 6(175): Jarvis Harrison - OG - Texas A&M Rd 7(211): Kyle Emanuel - Otto LB - North Dakota State
Rd 1(3): Dante Fowler - DE - Florida
Rd 2(36): Melvin Gordon - RB - Wisconsin Rd 3(67): Tyler Lockett - Slot WR/KR - Kansas State Rd 4(103): Cody Prewitt - FS - Mississippi Rd 5(138): MyCole Pruitt - TE - Southern Illinois Rd 6(175): Jarvis Harrison - OG - Texas A&M Rd 7(211): Kyle Emanuel - Otto LB - North Dakota State We show less advertisements to registered users. Using CBSSports Round Projections For This One:
Rd 1: DT Leonard Williams-Stud with D-Line Versatility. Rd 2: RB Jay Ajayi-One of my favorite backs in the draft. Rd 3: MLB Denzel Perryman- My favorite player in the draft. Could be a very good MLB in our system. Rd 4: FS Gerod Holliman- Very Good FS, addresses the need. Rd 5: WR/PR/KR Ty Montgomery- Very, Very good return guy and decent receiving threat. Rd 6: TE Nick Boyle- Very good blocking TE to replace Lewis, with all the potential to be a good mismatch receiver as well. Rd 7: BAP-Can't see anyone I really like.
Quote:Using CBSSports Round Projections For This One: Perryman is an absolute stud. I've watched every game he's played in college and he is always around the ball...most of the time laying some big hits (also one of the best tacklers I've seen). He does have some questions about his coverage ability but Miami's scheme made everyone look bad against the pass. He has a very bright future and I hope it's with the Jags.
We have to get Fowler. Leonard is very good but Fowler is the 10+ sack a year guy.
The vibe I am getting from reading everything I can over the internet and reading between the lines is that the Jags will end up with
Rd 1(3): Leonard Williams - DE/DT - Southern California The Titans will either take Mariota or trade the pick leaving Leonard Williams to fall to the Jags at Pick 3. Rd 2(36): Melvin Gordon - RB - Wisconsin It seems the real prize at RB is Todd Gurley because it seems that he may be ready to compete when training camp rolls around. The No. 2 RB seems to be a contest between Gordon, Coleman and Ajayi with the latter (Ajayi) being the darkhorse for the 2nd RB off the draft board. So what causes Gordon to fall? The quality and depth at RB plus questions about Gordon's pass receiving skills and pass blocking will cause him to fall. The teams most interested in Gordon in Rd 1 are the Chargers, Cardinals and Cowboys, yet, all of these teams should be able to take a quality RB in Rd 2, such that they can address more pressing needs in Rd 1. Call it a feeling, but to me, Melvin Gordon is the RB that falls to the Jags at Pick 36 and I think the Jags take him. Rd 3(67): Tyler Lockett - Slot WR/KR - Kansas State Dave Caldwell targeted Randall Cobb, a slot WR in Free Agency. Tyler Lockett with his 4.4 speed would be the perfect slot WR and KR. The only question is whether he falls out of Rd 2. I think he does because of the run on RBs in Rd 2 and because Lockett is a bit light in the pants. Most draft boards I have seen have him valued from the mid 70s to the late 80s, so he should be there at Pick 67. It will be interesting whether or not Dave Caldwell trades his 3rd day picks to move up and take a 2nd 3rd Rd selection like Clive Walford or a Free Safety like Derron Smith or Cody Prewitt. There seems to be more options at the Free Safety position in Rd 4, than there are for Slot WRs, so that is why I think Lockett will be the pick at the top of Rd 3 for the Jags. Ok, I saw where Will Brinson of CBS Sports proposed a mock trade idea ivolving the Titans and Chargers. The Titans get pick #17 AND QB Phillip Rivers, the Chargers get #2 (to pick Mariota) and #33. Rivers is a southern boy (North Carolina), so he might be right at home in Nashville. Brinson admits the idea is far-fetched, and I agree, but it is a fun scenario to try. This mock also includes several other trades I thought would make sense, unfortunately none of which involve the Jags. We are "stuck" with Leonard Williams. I don't think we really need him now with the Odrick signing, and I'd prefer an edge-rusher, but Williams is regarded by many as the best player in the draft, so you gotta pick him.
Who would you all pick in round 2 for the Jags here? None of the other top players seemed to fit for me, so I gave them RB Ajayi, supposedly the best all-around back in the draft. Would Caldwell take QB Brett Hundley to develop as #2?? http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/prospectrankings
I'd take either combo of Williams//top RB
Still prefer a Williams//Top OT//P.Smith tho
Apparently Damarious Randall - FS - Arizona State is becoming every teams favorite for the Deep Single High FS position. Matt Miller of Hugh Upside - Bleacher Report is comparing him (similiarites) to Devin McCourty of the Patriots.
So how high will this guy get drafted and should the Jags reach for him at Pick 36?
So if it comes down to it should the Jags take
Leonard Williams or Dante Fowler at Pick 3? If the Jags could trade with the Raiders whereby in Rds 2, 4 and 6 they swap picks so that in every round other than the 1st rd the Jags have the 3rd pick in each round, would that be worth dropping to take Dante Fowler or is Leonard Williams that much of a game changer? Your comments would be appreciated. We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:So if it comes down to it should the Jags take Williams and its not even really a question…. moving up 1 slot in 2/4/6 is worth about 3 7th round picks…I'd rather take what the Vikings gave up for Kalil as in: We give #3 for #4 and Raiders 4th

Matt Miller of Hugh Upside - Bleacher Report is comparing him (similiarites) to Devin McCourty of the Patriots. If no trades, maybe... 1. Leonard Williams/Dante Fowler (depending on Titans pick) 2. FS Damarious Randall (has experience as a return specialist) 3. RB Jeremy Langford (moving up the boards with faster times than anticipated, 4.42)
If I'm drafting Leonard Williams, I want to know for sure that he's capable of beating our Roy Miller for the start alongside Sen'Derrick at DT.

Both coming off injury...Both aren't long term cogs...not too far fetched We show less advertisements to registered users. Accounts are free; join today!
Quote:If I'm drafting Leonard Williams, I want to know for sure that he's capable of beating our Roy Miller for the start alongside Sen'Derrick at DT.I dont see Williams as a NT, nor do I see him beating out Marks when he comes back, nor do I see him beating out Odrick. We need a edge rusher, I think Dave goes Fowler, Beasley, or Gregory. I think Williams goes to the Redskins or the Jets.
I see no reason why the Jags would not want Leonard Williams if he is available at Pick 3.
Quote:I see no reason why the Jags would not want Leonard Williams if he is available at Pick 3. It's not that they wouldn't want him. It's just that they might feel trading down with him as bait to be a preferable option considering all their needs.
