Does anyone know why there seems to be more sinkholes in Brazil and South America in general than anywhere else?

Crappy infrastructure and poor engineering.  If you build what's basically a dam over a waterway out of dirt, it's eventually going to succumb to the water that's constantly eroding it.  In this instance, it looks like there may have been a lot of extra water involved, which is never a good thing.

Never argue with idiots. They drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

They're working with nothing most of the time, like FBT said it's mostly dirt roads and when the rivers flood it all gets washed away.
