Gregory fails drug test

Based on team feedback I received at Combine, I'm unfortunately not surprised to read Randy Gregory failed drug test.

Among feedback I received on Gregory from teams was that he came off as "having an excuse for everything" and "would be a scary 1st rd pick"

The issue with Gregory isn't a single failed test for marijuana. Some teams will brush that off. Ive been told there are "several" red flags

Something tells me with the (still fairly new) rookie CBA in place, rookies are being a little more cavalier than usual.. Maybe I'm wrong..

Yep. It only takes one GM.

He's looking like a flash in the pan. He could be good for a few games, then suffer chronic injuries with his small frame and/or get suspended.

I wasn't big on him before I found out all this stuff. Now he would be off more board until the 4th round or later.

All these guys who have drug issues all seem to have an underlining secret to them during interviews. It's not that surprising. Blackmon was totally the same way.

(For the record I think the use of herb should be legal in the NFL, but then again, I guess you'd have a bunch of pot heads)

NBA doesnt test for weed and other than JR Smith things seem to be fine.

I think many fans would be surprised at how many already are.

If youre not in the program you really have to be an idiot to get caught. The drug tests are all scheduled until you fail one.

Seriously laughing at people that wouldn't take him in the 4th round. He'll still go top 15, still wouldn't surprise me to see him go Top 10.

Take him in the third round. STEAL !!!

A 3rd rounder on him would be worth the risk. I am sure some team will snatch him up well before that.

Much safer alternative than pumping them with painkillers

More I read about it avoid him.

You knew what what was happening at the combine and you knew when it was but yet you couldn't stop? Not to mention th2 2 times he tested positive in 2013 and almost got kicked out of Nebraska. Sorry but he is a suspension waiting to happen.

Plus bad decisions seem to be the trend with him

We were quite surprised to see the Ravens and Panthers bring him in for visits with picks in the mid-late 20s, guess that turned out to be some writing on the wall.

Can someone explain the love for Gregory?

He's tall and has long arms. I get that but is that it? He does OK when he's actually using his arm length, but he doesn't even take advantage of it that often. He's so light that a punch from even linemen of average strength usually throw him back. He doesn't have a wide range of moves, either.

Maybe I'm missing something but I wouldn't have picked him up before the 2nd even before the failed tests.

I get some of the hype and it's for reasons you described (his length).  People were thinking that him bulking up to 250 and getting coached up would eliminate most of his weaknesses.  He has a lot of upside which is why I'm not taking him off my draft board or only saying I'd use a 7th round pick on him or something like that.
