I don't know. I would take it with a grain of salt. His teammate Rannell Hall was supposed to be a burner and ran a 4.60 at the combine, but a 4.41 at the pro day. I tend to think Perriman's true speed is somewhere between Kevin White and Amari Cooper (4.35 - 4.41).

FYI, draftbreakdown has a couple of cutups.  I honestly wasn't blown away by him.  Sure, the 40 time was great, but he definitely has some weaknesses.  He does have some issues tracking the ball and had some head scratcher type drops.  I didn't see a very polished route runner and the timing on his jumps is not very good.

That's all coachable. It would probably serve him best to go to a team where he's not going to be asked to contribute much right away. That would give him the ability to work on his flaws. The talent is there the only question is can someone tap into his full potential?

It can be coachable, but going into it knowing he has a lot of developing to do before he can be out there contributing a lot, I would pass on him in the first and pass in the early 2nd most likely also.  I'd say late 2nd round/early 3rd.

I think he can be out there contributing a lot from day one. You cater to what he does best so he can can contribute immediately while always working to build his all around game for the future.


I know the comparison isn't perfect but guys like Mike Evans and Kelvin Benjamin have been allowed to do what they do best early and have had success. Neither of those two guys are super precise route runners but they have contributed early being allowed to round off routes, run specific routes only, etc. Of course teams want them to grow as players and add to their skill set but in the mean time let them do what got them to the NFL.

Yeah, Hall was definitely faster on the field than Perriman FWIW.

How well did he work with Bortles ? Was it a "telepathic understanding" ? Or was he just "another receiver" ?

UCF is really becoming a powerhouse in getting guys to the NFL. Good for them.

 

UCF and USF should be able to field solid teams just by getting the guys that slip through the cracks at the other Florida schools and by taking the guys who cannot qualify or transfer out of those schools. There is so much talent in this state it is ridiculous.

He was Blake's best deep option as he could beat his man downfield. Unfortunately his hands let the team down at times. I'd say JJ Worton was Blake's go-to guy. Perriman definitely improved his game and became a more complete receiver his last season with Justin Holman under center.
