Teddy

Just went back and watched some of bridgewater's play from last year. That'll give you a sour feeling reaaaaally quick. But hey, the "front office knows better than the fans" right?

I like bortles as a developmental guy, one who would be perfect sitting behind palmer for a few seasons. But this was probably one of the worst situations he could get into to be honest. Id compare him to tannehill. We may not see good results for another 2 years.

Seen him play plenty and never had a sour feeling.

I just don't think that Teddy would have had the same highlights with the Jags that he had with the Vikings.

I just don't see it.

I survived the Gus Bradley Error.

Instead we would've been talking about Teddy's funeral after he died behind this O-Line. He would've been broken in half.

"The fans" probably picked about 50 different players.    There had to be one we didn't pick that turned into a good player.

All last season and into the offseason people wanted teddy. Rightfully so. Caldwell overthought it, like many others. Paid too much attention to bortles' size and teddy's bad pro day instead of trusting the hours of film they watched

Just like the premise of this thread.

"People" wanted Teddy, for sure.    Other people wanted about 50 other guys.   You can go back and cherry pick any under-drafted player and say we missed on him.   That is true of every team every year.   I wanted us to draft Odell Beckham.   What does that mean?   Absolutely nothing.

It's interesting to see how quick people on this board are to dismiss Bridgewater.

From his final year of college to the combine to the Pro day to the fall in the draft and even after a solid rookie year performance, people here seem giddy at every misstep, and determined to ignore his accomplishments.

Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!

If people could accurately see into the future, they would never need to work, since they could live off their lottery winnings.

There are just as many on this board (and Twitter) that are quick to prop him up as some proof they were right. This thread and many others have been created.

Dave didn't over think anything. He has Bortles as his guy before the combine, and he even said all of our scouts individually chose Bortles as the guy too. Teddy's pro day had no effect on us drafting him.

Also sure, the assumption that Teddy would be killed behind our line is just that, an assumption. But so is thinking he'd have any sort of similar success as he did in Minnesota.

I like Teddy, but IMO I think Bortles has a much higher ceiling. I'll gladly wait another year or two for him to be a top 10 QB than have an average one for 15 years.
IT WAS ALWAYS THE JAGS

I think he would've gotten hurt too.

Well, he had a decent rookie season.

Not great.

But not the unmitigated failure so many on this board predicted.

From a purely statistical standpoint, his year was better than Bortles.

Were there factors outside of Bortles and Bridgewater that contributed to the disparity?  Absolutely.

Is the final career story for these two players written?  Absolutely not.

But in the aftermath of his pro day workout, his detractors insisted he could not play in this league.  His rookie year performance shows he can.

Worst to 1st.  Curse Reversed!

A reasonable take.
