There was a lot going on with the line.  Heck, they hadn't even settled on a starting rotation until what?  Week 2 or 3?  Offensive lines require continuity in order to be effective, and there was a lot of rotating that was happening due to lousy play and injury.  Given an off season to get healthy and stronger, plus adding some much needed talent at RT will hopefully pan out for the team.

 

I have a much better feeling going into this season then last years. REALLY hoping for an enjoyable season, that's all I want at this point, just a season with more happiness.

The learning curve was more than 3/4 of a season long? He sucked, hopefully this year he doesn't suck, we brought him here to help Joeckle a young LT and he hasn't done that yet.

Look I'm not saying Beadles is irreplaceable. I would love to see the position upgraded. I just think it's disingenuous to say he was "awful" last year.

He was a top 10 pass blocking guard last year, LG and RG included. That is just fine to me...and if his performance can improve from being healthier and more cohesive w/ the line, even better.

So the logic would be that our guards are not the reason for 70 sacks? That's  40% of an Oline that gave up that stupid amount.

There are other factors that contribute to sacks other than strictly 5 olineman. You have TE, RB, blitzes, coverage sacks, holding the ball too long, etc.

I mean, their actual grades I can see being knocked as subjective, but just the pure charting of sacks, hits, and hurries (PBE) linked above is awfully accurate.

On side note, Wisniewski is the #3 pass blocking center. I thought i had read that he was really good run blocking and bad pass blocking but I guess I had it flipped. My mistake for the other places where I posted the opposite.

How so? Two guys watch every snap, and if they give up a sack, hit, or hurry they chart it. It's not like their grading part where I can see people thinking their methods have lots of room for error. This is pretty darn accurate.

Like KY said, a lot more goes into it than just the offensive line play. That being said, yes, specifically the tackle position, was horrific last year.

 There might as well have been no one at RT and Luke was bad. But as everyone said theres so much more to sacks than just "O-lineman got beat by D-lineman"

 

its the same reason why were looking to improve the D-line, lots sacks but were near the bottom if not last in hurries. Opposite side of the same coin.
