Quote:If you actually watched his play, you would knkw that they didnt just rely on YAC. His intermediate throwing improved greatly as the year went on.

If you actually paid attention, you'd see the opposite.

Ted's cult has apparently passed Tebow's.

You remind me of the following quote:

Carr was clearly and indisputably better.  There is no argument against that.

Period.
I laughed. Thanks for the joke, I needed a pick me up after the horror of being around my apoplectic friends while UK lost tonight.

Teddy had the great matt asiata at running back. His two best receivers were greg jennings and largely unproven patterson.

Teddy also had an experienced OC, who also used to be a HC, named Norv Turner.

Bortles had some guy named Dedd Fisch.

Big difference.

Quote:I'll tell you why i made that comparison because i had watched all the rookie qb play live on t.v. in addition to following my own team. In teddy's case i compare him to alex smith base on limited arm strength, body frame, and great decision making when it came to finding the open receiver. What people want too ignore was that he came into the league pro ready, with a veteran offensive personnel including one of the best offensive coordinators in NFL history. In addition, he had 3 pro bowler on his offensive line and a very good defense to compliment him when he was in sync with the offense. If anyone looked at his games live from an offensive standpoint you'll see they ran alot of wr screens and when he threw passes over 10 yards the wr was wide open for him. To me that's a testament to norv turner offense and the offensive line that gave him plenty of time but they can have teddy as far as my concern because i don't he is going to be nothing more than he shown already which is at his best an above average qb.

Derek Carr who people want to make his rookie season the best thing since andrew luck is clearly irrational and irresponsible as a NFL fan. His season is clearly a case on number do lie except for one stat which i will explain to you at some point in this rant. I also watched all his games and his 2 best games which as the chargers that was very impressive although the wr holmes had a great game who should get credit as well. The other one was against san francisco which we all know by the time the raiders played them they tanked and quit on jim harbaugh because the circumstance outside the team's control. Derek Carr was on the receiving end of alot of blowout in which he gave his offense nothing but alot of 3 and outs. (aka chad henne). They're many games where derek carr had gabbert like passing yards through the fourth quarter which was 100 yd or less passing and then he made his move in garbage time and build up his stats at the end of the games (aka chad henne). It's no coincidence that his yd per attempt was 5.4 the lowest of all rookies and for him to play in all 16 games he only got 300 yds more than teddy and blake respectively. He does alot of dinking and dunking in most of his games and that's why it was easy for teams to gameplan against them. He also had a veteran offensive personnel including a decent coordinator and a offensive line that gave up only 24 sacks for the year which is amazing. For a guy who had this amazing rooking season won the same amount of games as blake and he also has a good defense to work with at his disposal. People in general see the box score and think he played well but if you actually watch him live on t.v. like me a person would've came away with a different opinion of him.

Which is why i know in 3 years blake bortles is not only going to be the best qb in this class but a top 10 qb and it's not even close. Just like the case of Derek Carr the box score also lied in his case as well. In the famous words of Dave Caldwell take his 10 best plays not only teddy and derek can't make them but most qb's in league can't do it either. His stats was bad but as we all watch our team they're alot of factors went into it as well. For instance, his offensive line besides linder should be embarrass to collect a paycheck for their performance not only giving up 71 sacks and alot of hurries but can't run block to save their lives. Throughout the season he played with 6 or more rookies in every single game and in some instance 7 if we count storm johnson couple of starts. If we want to add the second year players like luke, austin pastor, and robinson he was playing with 9 first and second year players on offensive players going up against NFL defenses. In blake case, it was like he was bringing a knife into a gun fight and people on here expected him to succeed under those circumstances is delusional at best. In addition, he had a incompetent offensive coordinator who had a playbook and gameplan like it was made by a bunch of kindergartners. lol. It's no coincidence that fisch no longer apart of this staff and he has a boss who likes to give out baskin robbins ice cream after every game so therefore to get fired by Gus Bradley is a huge indictment on him because this is a man who is very loyal with his friends. Back to blake, his yds per attempt was 6.14 which people saying that's not much better than derek carr but i'm going to explain why it was that low. Go back to blake as the season progressed and what's the link with his numbers went south from where it was at the beginning? Allen Robinson. He was his jason witten to romo, brandon marshall to jay cutler, odb to eli manning, and Antonio brown to his big ben. He was blake's only reliable and consistent receiver and once he lost him for the season his numbers went down across the board including his yards per game. Bad footwork also played a factor into it as well but losing his most reliable receiver hurt him the most because that's the only offensive weapon he can count on him every single time. This year ya'll going to see a more complete blake not only because of better weapons (julius thomas) but a better and more complete offensive staff. At the end of the day ya'll can have teddy and derek carr just give me blake and watch me be victorious at the end because he's the better qb out of all of them.

With all do respect to your article you just wrote, everything u stated is purely your opinion and a very long one at that. You gave every excuse to Teddy and Carr as to why they played better then Blake, but you didn't compliment the fact that they were still just rookies!! And they still could become a great qb or worst one.

No one knows not even you my friend! You really just giving a bias opinion towards bortles and i can respect that from a fellow jag fan but we still have to give credit where credit is do!

I agree with your last statement but i believe that bortles has the upside and will surpass all them as rookies in due time. I appreciate the feedback and if we agree to disagree at the end of the day we're still jag fans .

You're right, I was joking.

You aren't better than that.

But I keep rooting for you to turn the corner one day.

We had a 50 page thread on Bridgewater here and I recall (during the Louisville vs UCF game) posting "OMG, I think we're watching the wrong guy."   I honestly think Bortles has a chance to be like Big Ben or Favre by taking chances but I'm not certain we'll see that for another year or 2 when we get our WRs established.  I think we're in for another conservative year (which is not Bortles game) so Bridgewater may continue to look better for another year.

The Texans would have probably made the playoffs last year, had they been able to take him at 33. I'm glad he Vikings moved up to get him.

I think Bridgewater will be good in the NFL, but I don't know if he'll be that quarterback that will lead his team to multiple playoff/Super Bowl appearances.  He will always be in the running, but never get over that hill.

I could be completely wrong, but I think in the long run if treated correctly, Bortles will be a bigger play maker. (I hope)

I am not as high on Bridgewater on some. But Houston has to be kicking themselves for not moving up one friggin spot to get him.

I pretty much agree with this. I think he would have been a great fit for a team like Houston or Arizona who has a lot of the other pieces in place. I will admit that I think he was a better value at 32 than Bortles was at 3, but if Bortles grows into the QB many of us think he will, that will be inconsequential.

The Vikes are talking with Devante Parker. If they get him the chemistry will already be there for him and Teddy...lookout!

I love how everyone sweeps what Bridgewater did last season under the rug like that's the best he's gonna ever do. Kid is a student of the game and relies on him mind more than his physical attributes. He will be a star.
If that RV sales place wants Tebow in Jax bad enough to take out a billboard saying as much.....they should just HIRE him.

I'm pretty sure not one person has said his rookie season is the best he'll ever do.  That is the worst assumption I've ever seen on this board.
